Scott fell for this hook, line, and sinker! And he was not the first one to go down to the FAN!

Charlie Crist's Fan: A Love Story
His opponents have laughed at it for years, but at Wednesday's gubernatorial debate, the Florida pol's favorite accessory stole the show.
When Crist was a young Florida Republican rising star, the fan was there. When Crist became governor, the fan came with him. When Crist was cast out of politics and his partywhen he became an independent and then a Democratwhen he lost his allies, his friends, his donors, his careerwhen he embarked on his comeback, determined to show the voters he was a new man but also, deep down, just the same: The fan was there.
In 2006, when Crist was state attorney general, competing in a tough Republican gubernatorial primary, the fan accompanied him onstage. It was August in Poinciana, a swampy Central Florida town south of Orlando, and the air was thick with moisture. His opponent, Tom Gallagher, looked at Crists fan and said to the moderator, Thats not fair. Get another fan in here or Im walking out. The debate was delayed several minutes until a second fan could be found.
----snip-----
Was it in the rules or not? Crists campaign produced a signed copy of the debate contract to which a single handwritten footnote was affixed: *with understanding that the debate hosts will address any temperature issues with a fan if necessary. If you knew Crist, you believed it: He would make sure he had that fan.

I wonder what he thought he was there for if not to go on stage?

(42,757 posts)He was stalling for time.
When the debate resumed it was obvious how unprepared he truly was.

(9,069 posts)but honestly, I've seen him in person a couple times and he's a terrible speaker.
Crist is spontaneously MUCH better. If this campaign gets on TV enough, it can only help Crist.
I still think Crist set up the fan as a trap, even if it was only to distract Scott. Scott jumped into it.
Of course, if he was looking for an excuse to drop out of the debate, the fan didn't work out very well.

(51,076 posts)Our governor here in OK is of the scott mold. A few months ago it looked like she would be reelected by a land slide but not so much any more. Her democratic opponent Joe Dorman is closing the gap.
I sure hope that he can pull it off as Mary fallin is failing big time. No original thoughts in her air filled head. Everything she says or does is fed to her by the puke party machine.
