It should have been a meme long ago.
Not having access to health care kills people.
Also important - not having access to health care disables people. It forces them to seek out more services and even to fall back on welfare or social security support. The taxpayer ultimately benefits more by subsidizing a healthy, productive populace - because on the other side they will be subsidizing unproductive disabled people.
WHEN WILL THE GOP GET THIS?!
Telling the disabled to "get a job" won't work.
Withholding services and manipulating things in hopes the poor disabled will "migrate" to more generous (sucker!) States or otherwise just fall through the cracks (suicide, the stress and rigors of homelessness, being beaten into a "natural" death rate...) will not work. Significant numbers will hold out through your damned three year waiting period for SSI/SSDI, and they will add to the taxpayer burden for the remainder of their lives!
OR you could simply provide them with access to decent healthcare up front so they don't sink into disability in the first place.
It's called Enlightened Self-Interest. Give it a try. You may like it.
