Obama is a dam good president. Why do Dems hide it?

"SNIP......................

Lastly, here are some other accomplishments of the Obama administration.

Passed Wall Street Reform, and Dodd-Frank for Consumer and Bank Financial Protection
Ended the Iraqi War
Killed Osama bin Laden
Repealed “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”
Reversed Bush Era Torture Policies
Forced banks out of the Federal Student Loan Program
Boosted Automobile Fuel Efficiency
Achieved New START Treaty
Of course, Obama has made mistakes. But unlike congress he was a leader on initiatives which have improved the lives of Americans.

My suggestion to the Democrats is to stop letting the Republicans control the story. Democrats provide little defense for Obama when he is attacked from the right and candidates are avoiding Obama during the mid-term elections. This only gives credence to the Republican argument that Obama is an inconsequential president who can’t lead when nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, the Democrats are the ones acting spineless. To me these Democrats are hurting the party and the country by selfishly trying to save their seats in congress.

Democrats should stand tall and shout from the top of their lungs, “Obama is a damn good president and I’m proud he is my Commander-in-Chief. So here’s a message for you Republicans … F^*k you.” It’s the truth. In a Democratic vacuum the only voices the public hears are those of Republicans.

...somehow managed to take a hemorraging stock market from about 6,000 points to over 17,000 before October's correction
...somehow managed to reduce the enormous out of control Bush era budget deficits that were approaching $1.7T/yr down to less than $385B at their current level AND falling.

Democrats get things done. Republicans are immoral thieves that destroy things.

2.5 weeks to see if we can convince enough swing voters that Democrats have their best interests at heart.

I do know republicans WILL. I know that the churches are fired up for the Gop to win the senate. I hear it from the pulpit and it pisses me off but I'm in the minority. "A republican senate will end abortion.....will repeal gay rights.....will impeach Obama"..ad nauseum. What can we do to get dem voters off their asses & go vote????

A living wage, unions, pensions, single payer health care system, education, women's rights, gay rights. These are no longer separate for me. To win my vote a candidate must fight for all these things. I will no longer be bullied into voting for someone who only supports social equality and not economic equality.

what we see as an accomplishment sends Righties into apocalyptic fits. Like DADT being repealed, I was very very happy about that. I don't know any Righties that are happy about it, most see it as a step backwards. So, it's not us, it's them.

Especially in the south. And when you have whole reams of "independent" swing voters who would be a Republican over race issues, but also know they're being screwed by the Republican leadership, you want to focus on the leadership, not the President.

This really isn't that hard to figure out.

directly affects the average American?

Sure, those are all great things, but how are those things putting food on anyone's table, or paying their bills or getting them a job? They're not. And, yes, I do believe the economy is improving but, again, for the average American, I think times are still very, very tough.

I do agree that the Obama administration/Democrats need to tout this administration's accomplishments more than it does. Democrats have never been very good at controlling the story, imo.

Shilling for the awful TPP and trying to slip it past us with the fast track trick.

Not throwing one corrupt criminal big shot Wall Street criminal in jail for obvious textbook financial fraud.

Running as a progressive then bringing in Wall Street insiders, the Rubin crowd, the same crowd who crashed the economy in 2008, as his financial team.

Going after whistleblowers with the same zeal as Dubya.

To be sure he's done some good things and is better than any republican but that's a really low bar now. For the most part it's been the same neo liberal Wall Street third way boogie -as proved by what's in the TPP, more free trade but so much more that is abhorrent.

Why can't democratic presidents be real democrats anymore?;it's been rightward ho since Clinton and blowing up Glass-Steagall and welfare reform.

Some think it's just dandy but the truth is the whole political baseline has moved hard right - other than real progressives like Elizabeth Warren and a few others.

There are millions of Americans who don't give a shit that the stock market is doing better.

Some asshole bankers used fraudulent foreclosures to steal their homes and the banks got even more money from the Government.

Rampant oil speculation is driving everyone into poverty now that gas is 3 times what we should be paying, and food is through the roof because of transportation

But we are going to use our money to 'help' Iraqis, and we help Israel bomb Palestine....because we are just so nice and caring about humanity.

aren't really cuts. To steal some writing from DUer, okaawhatever:

"The bill the Senate passed closes a loophole in the way some states calculate the heat and eat program. From what I understand, a person who qualifies for the heat and eat program qualifies for more food stamps. What some states did was give families $1 in heat and eat money so they would qualify for more food stamps. The cost to the individual state was $1 but the federal food stamp program ended up paying more than it would if the people resided in another state. I think many people found this unfair and that is why some Democrats signed off on the "cut".

I also saw an article that said if people can prove the cost of their heating bills the cut may not affect them anyway. That is why many of the articles said "it could affect up to 850k families" instead of "it would..." "

Here's what the NCSL said about the Heat and Eat Program and a diagram of what States were affected:

I also think people are growing very, very sick of the lies and doublespeak. Things like writing into the budget and publicizing health cost savings through promises to limit monopoly periods, while working in secret to specifically gut those exact promises with the TPP:
