My father died recently. The movie made me cry. I guess I don't believe in ghosts, so I'm not terribly disturbed by others' fantasy writings about them.

It is rather ironic that the concept of ghosts disturbs you, given your username.

Field of Dreams is a spiritually and emotionally significant film for a a great many of us, given the father-and-son story and making up for lost time.

He did die happy though, surrounded by family and friends.

The movie I remember him really enjoying, with me, was "Major League."

We actually went to the Field of Dreams movie site and it was an extraordinary experience. It was the very first public place where every single person was nice to everyone else. Everyone had a wonderful time, old men, grandmas, middle aged men and women, cool teenagers, little kids. We ended up in a pick up game of baseball with dozens of strangers. It restored my faith in ordinary people. Most people are good at heart if given a little nudge like this movie does.

The men all seemed to have an especially good time. I think that movie speaks to guys a lot.

Take care and be very gentle with yourself while you mourn.
