Forgive Hyperbole - Ernst Must Believe Churches & Private Charities Should Handle Ebola?

If you look at a recent supposedly secret statement is that Ernst believes that the churches and private institutions should be given e safety net. We are too reliant on government and people need to be weaned off of it? It includes getting rid of Obamacare. So the real reason for attack on the safety net is that conservatives like Ernst think that the churches and charities should do it all and the government has NO role in domestic programs.

So I guess we turn public health over to churches if you follow the logic to its end.. So what the F--K will they do? Pray and pass the Bible over the sick? These people are completely nuts.

Thanks to Huff post and someone recording her speech we now know what the GOP will do with the Senate and Congress once they get it.

So you can pick up your Social Security check at your local church.

Private charity actually props up the current class system and does not threaten to reorganize society. The wealthy get to feel virtuous for throwing a few crumbs to their social inferiors, but nothing ever really changes.

By contrast, government programs have the potential to result in large-scale redistribution of wealth (or at least that's what the wealthy fear, although in our current system, it's not actually happening). Redistribution of wealth means loss of power, position, and privilege for the elites.

So when you hear someone talking about the desirability of private charity, what they're really saying is that they don't want a solution to inequality. They KNOW charity is ineffective, and that's why they want it. They consider inequality itself desirable and they don't want any program that might level the playing field. They only want charity for two reasons: (1.) to make themselves feel good, and (2.) to keep the poor just below the threshold of open rebellion against the unjust system. Give them just a little, convince them that a "gratitude practice" is healthy and virtuous, and you've effectively silenced them.

except when they might be affected by some critical event , and then they want the government to do everything including hold their hands. Now, here they are flinging out fear over a single Ebola death and they've gone all moat and fortress and want a new "czar"... cuz suddenly they don't hate czars like they used to, eh? And they want big government to interfere with private businesses to impose -- OMG! -- draconian regulations on travel, and control the movement of private citizens, and call out the military, but if you're hungry, hurt or homeless... you're on your own.

We are doing our best to prevent that but if she wins I think I don't think we have much chance of going back before a pre-Reagan society.
