'This kid is an evil person,' Oklahoma DA says of son charged in slayings of 3 family members

DUNCAN — University of Oklahoma freshman Alan J. Hruby had come to like the finer things in life — flying first class, vacationing in Paris, high-end watches and staying at The Ritz-Carlton hotel.

But after his parents cut off his finances, he killed them — and his younger sister — for the family’s money, a prosecutor said Wednesday.

“He felt like if he murdered his mother, father and sister, he would be the only heir to their estate,” Stephens County District Attorney Jason Hicks said at a news conference. “They had had financial problems with him in the past. He couldn’t control his spending.”

Hruby, 19, was charged Wednesday with three counts of first-degree murder. Prosecutors are considering seeking the death penalty.

This kid reminds me a lot of Christopher Pritchard, of the "Dungeons and Dragons Murders" infamy, who tried to have his mother and stepfather killed so he could inherit their money. The stepfather, Lieth von Stein, died, but Pritchard's mother lived.

I frankly believe that Pritchard should never have been paroled.

I think the book was called Catch Me If You Can. He's doing life without parole, I think.

It seems to me that Ewell was smarter than this guy, though.

Can't recall his name. His story was focus of a few ID crime channel shows. Thought he was slick - wore shoes were too big. Detective saw that a smart criminal would not have walked thru the blood leaving perfect footprints. Located the store where the shoes and weapon were purchased.

This is what he sounds like, just from my non-professional point of view gained from reading a lot on the subject. I can't imagine the horror his family suffered as their loved on turned on them and ended their lives. He obviously felt nothing watching them die or afterward.

Appropriate? I know it is not great but a triple murder. Spoiled rich adult. Sounds at least a discussion. I am not always for it, but in this case. I am not quite sure.

Just possibly?

A whole other argument, but the guy needs more than a swat on the bottom for this.

I'm about nine months ago (of six years total) from my degree in Forensic Psychology and I'd agree. From what little we have, he sounds like a sociopath.

it's not fiction. Then there's a group I check occasionally, http://www.prisonwatchnetwork.org/

Then there's this: http://newsok.com/female-prison-in-oklahoma-has-highest-rape-rate-in-u.s./article/3922988

America has the largest incarceration rate in the world. Many people go to prison for minor offenses or even for not paying off a debt, and too numerous to count are wrongly imprisoned.

I believe it's our duty to find out what the hell is going on with our justice system. Ignorance of the system is what keeps perpetuating it. In our county, we have raised awareness of a bad district judge and voters will probably throw him off the bench.
