Chuck Todd I have two ACTUAL doctors this week.
You don't investigate or even Mention (within a whole segment) GOP Voter Discrimination or the Sequester to Blocking everything Obama wants.
How can you explain this and your lack of reporting?

Chuck Todd Why didn't you ask me when I stopped beating my wife? Come on. Ask a serious question and I'll give you a serious answer. There's always more nuance to the facts that partisans, left and right, want to admit

Chuck Todd I understand you have to be mad at someone, so why not a member of the press. That's why God invented social media.
This was my fave:

Chuck Todd Actually I do. All on the GOP side of things. Obviously, there's Scott Walker who if he loses, no longer is a viable 2016er. Then there's Jeb Bush. I've long assumed he is not running. BUT, if Republicans do NOT win the Senate, I think an intra-party bloodbath is going to take place. And under THAT scenario, I could picture Jeb deciding he could run with his stances that some conservatives hate (including Common Core and immigration) because the party will be in a MAJOR debate anyway. And Jeb would want to represent the more pragmatic wing of the GOP.
Chuck Todd But my hunch is that Jeb ends up not running... But the only chance he might is if the GOP is in a total intra-party spat.

And then it seems to have ended.
He's a hack, I know we all knew that, but this was a sorta epic fail on his part.

(82,849 posts)The two-part question could have stood without the ass clown remark. Instead, it gave Todd the out he needed to dodge his stupid "disqualification" remark about Grimes.
The answer to the last question, though, shows something kind of interesting: Todd doesn't identify the factions in the GOP who might participate in "an intra-party bloodbath" should Republicans fail to win a Senate majority. But he does identify Jeb! Bush as representative of "the more pragmatic wing" of the party. How would Todd characterize any other factions of the Republican party, if there is a "more pragmatic wing," and who belongs in those various factions?
I'm guessing mum is very much the word from Todd on that score. Which is why my mind refers to him as Chuck Toad.
Raine1967

(11,589 posts)He's completely tone deaf.
That was a serious and reasonable question. his response, like so many others was to brush it off. THAT is why he is so bad at what he does.
If I ever see or run into him in public I would ask hims lot of the questions he refused to answer.
It was a really pathetic Q&A, he didn't *A* at all.

(2,331 posts)Why are you in political journalism if you believe it is not your job to call politicians out on their lies? Journalists are the stand ins for the general populace who don't have the same access to politicians that you do. You do the people and the profession a great disservice when you refuse to ask politicians tough and even-handed questions. Furthermore, not only are Republicans given more prominent roles on MTP, they also seem to get easier treatment than Democrats (e.g. the insistence that President Obama didn't mention Syria during your recent interview, when in fact he did so four times prior to your statement.) It's hardly surprising that you have developed the reputation of being a partisan shill. Nor is it surprising that the MTP ratings are even lower than when David Gregory hosted it. People who are interested in thoughtful, balanced journalism look elsewhere for their information. Sadly I doubt NBC will hire a more impartial replacement for you, though they need not look far for one, most notably Rachel Maddow.
So far he hasn't responded, though he did to a question posted after this.

(2,331 posts)Unlike Chuck Todd, I actually earned a degree in newspaper journalism. While I did not go into it as a profession, it has been invaluable training for other writing I do. It also taught me critical thinking and the skill of interviewing people, which to do properly requires you to listen to what the other person is saying. Something that Todd might have learned had he stayed in school, and saved himself the embarrassment that came after his rebuking Obama for not mentioning Syria when he had four times.

(11,589 posts)"Happy to answer any serious questions. If you want to snark, do it on Twitter," Todd said.
Todd responded similarly when he was taken to task for not investigating "GOP Voter Discrimination or the Sequester to Blocking everything Obama wants."
"Why didn't you ask me when I stopped beating my wife? Come on," Todd said. "Ask a serious question and I'll give you a serious answer. There's always more nuance to the facts that partisans, left and right, want to admit."
One user called Todd an "a$$ clown" for his suggestion that Alison Lundergan Grimes had "disqualified herself" for refusing to say whether she had voted for President Obama.
"I understand you have to be mad at someone, so why not a member of the press," Todd responded. "That's why God invented social media."

(2,331 posts)All right, since you will not reply to my earlier question, here's one directly related to the midterms: Why is Alison Lundergran Grimes' refusal to say whether she voted for Obama a disqualification for office, according to you, but you make no similar judgment re Mitch McConnell's failure to acknowledge that Kynect is a direct result of the ACA, and that his wish to repeal the ACA would end Kynect? That seems to be a much more consequential "gaffe".

(62,413 posts)How did he feel coming in second to a comedian as the choice for MTP?
Note: He probably would have been 3rd if Colbert was available to ask.
ETA - it does gall me that Todd and NBC actually believe the farce that he perpetrates is "neutral" and no-partisan. Sadly it is truly hard to find good journalists these days to emulate and those that are good journalists are probably labeled as "ultra liberal" by his company.
Personally I think his only mission is to sell the bullshit that NBC wants folks to believe. His credibility is so low that he was pushed out to do a stunt like this to try to regain some stature. Too bad there was an informed electorate to ask questions.
