Officer-involved shooting, but investigators haven't confirmed if suspect armed after 4 weeks

This is in Richmond, KY just outside of Lexington.

Man dies from wound after chase from Lexington to Richmond

A man who led police on a chase from Lexington to Richmond on Saturday night, died from “an officer involved shooting” after his vehicle crashed about 9:30 in a wooded area near the Eastern Bypass/Lancaster Road intersection.

According to Kentucky State Police, Lexington officers began the pursuit in Fayette County. By the time the chase reached Richmond, the KSP, Richmond police and Madison County Sheriff's deputies were involved.

The KSP news release gave few details of the incident except to describe the shooting as “officer involved.” Whether the suspect was armed or fired at officers was not mentioned. It states he was transported to the University of Kentucky Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The names of the suspect and the officers were not released. No law enforcement personnel were injured in the incident, according to the news release Trooper Robert Purdy issued at 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

I'm sure they meant to release it already. The longer they wait to talk to the public, the worse this looks. The incident happened VERY close to us. I heard the sirens. Also, the local university had a football game that was releasing right where and when this happened as well.
