Ebola 'Caused by Red Cross', showing up on facebook, Snopes link included

I am posting this to show some of the problems that have contributed to the continuing spread in W Africa, and because this is starting to show up on facebook. If you see any of this on social media, the snopes link is at the beginning of this post.

One of the problems in W Africa is too many do not understand viruses and what ebola is, how to treat or contain it. Educators have been murdered for spreading "lies". People are frightened. I have seen some of these popping up on facebook and have had to counter them.

Please use the snopes link when you see this crap. Frightened people do not react in logical ways.

The snopes link which can be used to counter those who might believe this crap.

Ebola 'Caused by Red Cross'

The latest of these theories involves a Ghanaian man who claims the virus does not exist and that people are dying after they receive vaccinations by the Red Cross. News website the Event Chronicle republished the post allegedly written by Nana Kwame, from Ghana's capital Accra, who claimed that the deadly virus is just an invention and "people in the Western World need to know what's happening here in West Africa.

"Ebola it is only contracted by those who receive treatments and injections from the Red Cross, the post said, adding that the virus "was invented" to allow western troops on African soil. "Last but not least, the APPEARANCE of this Ebola 'pandemic' will be used to scare the countless millions into taking an 'Ebola vaccine' which in reality is the pandemic," the post continued.

"Hundreds of thousands have been killed, paralysed and disabled by these and other 'new' vaccines all over the world and we are finally becoming aware of it. Now what will we do with all this information?" the post concluded.

Another theory has blamed Western countries for creating Ebola, after an image representing the personification of Ebola went viral. The image, or meme – a cultural symbol or idea represented by a video, an image or a text shared on the internet – was created on imageboard website 4chan in August.....(clip)

(clip) eople in the Western World need to know what’s happening here in West Africa. THEY ARE LYING!!! “Ebola” as a virus does NOT Exist and is NOT “Spread”. The Red Cross has brought a disease to 4 specific countries for 4 specific reasons and it is only contracted by those who receive treatments and injections from the Red Cross. That is why Liberians and Nigerians have begun kicking the Red Cross out of their countries and reporting in the news the truth. Now bear with me clip)

Knowing how it's hard for us to contain misinformation in our country, it seems hopeless if that is what is happening over there.

There was a clinic (not Red Cross) that was reusing needles to give injections, and was spreading ebola that way. They did not have the equipment to sterilize their needles. Many people who had been to that clinic later died.

because of a lack of something so simple to provide. This country and the world have priorities so screwed up...trillions for war and a pittance to help the needy, children going to bed (and to school) hungry while the 1% offshore money to avoid taxes, the Koch's buying congress while the poor cannot buy medicine. It is obscene and I am disgusted.
