(32,723 posts)They show guys with black flags in a mini pickup truck in the desert and then they show images of the border with Mexico with cars driving through and then they rail about Obama having an "open border policy" as part of a UN thing to undermine our sovereignty and stuff....
Too many white Americans think everything to the south in Mexico is a "damn desert". Look at the movie "Traffic". Hollywood slapped a filter on the camera so everything looked kinda orange when it was supposed to be in Mexico. Tell someone the Rio Grande Mountains don't give a squat about political borders as they keep going south and are called the Sierra Madres and white people think, "We don't need no steenking badges". Tell them you can book a SKI TRIP to Mexico and their eyes glaze over.
Go further south and it's not a "damn desert". It's a tropical paradise.
White Americans are convinced the whole world wants to come here and kill them and take what they have. Newsflash: Just because that's the way YOU operate that doesn't mean that's how the rest of the world thinks.

(50,983 posts)One thing that might help is if Democratic office holders, candidates and pundits would refuse to appear on any Fox program. I don't know why these people lend Fox credence by appearing on their programs. I guess they would sell their soul.

(32,723 posts)They are a complete and utter JOKE to the public.
All someone has to do is mention FOX "News" to explain the crazy talk coming from the relative at Thanksgiving.

(239 posts)So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is...fear itself nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance.
In every dark hour of our national life a leadership of frankness and of vigor has met with that understanding and support of the people themselves which is essential to victory.
And I am convinced that you will again give that support to leadership in these critical days.
FDR was optimistic, today's politicians, media and conservatives would rather fearmonger.

(24,692 posts)It's fear that gets republican voters to the polls. It should be no surprise that there is a lot of fear out there.
