A lot of crappy jobs out there

I am looking for employment, and I have noticed and experienced a lot of crappy jobs out there. Bad companies, bad jobs, bad cultures, bad bosses, and bad pay. Perhaps the decline of unions have something to do with this.I guess it could be worse. I could be coal mining. Just puttin' it out there.

Then, as now, there were "bad companies, bad jobs, bad cultures, bad bosses, and bad pay". But in the meantime, a lot of decent-paying jobs have been lost, so it's probably worse now.

15 bucks an hour. Must mix mortar in a large mixer, wheelbarrow it onto the slab, keep masons supplied with bricks or blocks and plenty of fresh tempered mortar. In your spare time you will build scaffold and stock them with block. And hurry up every chance you get. Oh, and if you pass the drug test, you're fired.

I never got tested in 40 years and I never tested any of the dozens of employees I had. On one large federal job at a meeting of foremen, one suggested that the bosses should test. Old Hugh, second in command said "you wanna lose the whole crew?"

The jobs that have been created in this "recovery" are mostly low-pay service jobs. The truth is that it was not a recovery. It was a restructuring to benefit the One Percent.
