Joe Scarborough: "Are the Democrats going to win the House?"

Joe put Debbie Wasserman-Shultz on the defensive from the beginning this morning. She was ready to give the Democratic talking points but she was not prepared for pointed questions.

"Why are the Democrats running from Barack Obama", he wanted to know. He then pointed out the President's achievements: ACA, the economy, job growth, etc.

So, why aren't Democrats running with the President??

Because he has such low approval ratings, especially in some red states?

The question is, why? If the President has such a great record to run on, why are his approval ratings so low??

Basically, the media, and people like Joe Scarborough, have been able to create faux "scandals", like IRS, Benghazi, ISIS, and general incompetence, and the President and the Democrats have been unwilling or unable to respond adequately. The Repubs, with the aid of the media, have been able to make this election about Obama instead about their own conspiracy theories and inability to govern. The media will say it was a superb political maneuver by the Republicans.

This President has never liked to brag on himself or his own record. He has depended on others to do it for him. But, does he share some of the blame for letting the Repubs define his record and to paint him as incompetent?

But, why, oh why, did Democrats, including DWS, head of the DNC, let Republicans frame this election as "pal-ing around with Obama = loser?

As Mika pointed out this morning, even during that discussion, DWS could barely bring herself to say "President Obama," let alone "I'm proud that Democrats voted for affordable health care, equal pay for women and are now championing an increase in the minimum wage."

The difference between DWS and Elizabeth Warren campaigning for Shaheen in New Hampshire was stark. Warren attacked Brown's record. That was enough. DWS could have attacked the Republican shut down, their obstructionism, etc. Instead, she fell over herself trying to pretend Obama does not exist.

If you don't define yourself and your record, the Repubs will do it for you. And it appears they have?

engaged in D.C. kabuki in an attempt to make himself more palatable to blue state voters. (He voted "with Obama" 78% of the time---but only once when his vote made a difference--and that once he made the bill so much worse before he voted for it.)

Here's how you run against a Republican without running away from Obama.

Why the hell doesn't the head of the DNC seem to get it? Doesn't she want to get it?
