Perhaps Americans deserve what's coming to 'em if they vote GOP

If Americans support the GOP this coming November, then the only conclusion one can come to is that they don't want a number of issues to be addressed.

Unemployment extension? Americans don't want it:

Minimum wage increase? Americans don't want it:

Elizabeth Warren's student loan refinancing? Americans don't want it:

Immigration reform? Americans don't want it.

Americans think the GOP will protect them from Ebola, ISIS and abortions. Apparently these are the top concerns for Americans at the moment which is evident by their desire to vote GOP.

Costa Rica anyone?

I think a lot of it has to do with the Democrats not "Learning From Success"; populist, economic-inequality-based candidates win.

Also a refusal to ask the GOP "What's your plan"

Right now everything is about Ebola, ISIS, abortions and terrorism.

The media is ignoring the other issues.

I think that the polls are pathetic and most are slanted for the GOP. I pay no attention to the polls, the only that that I want to see is the numbers on election night. That's all the really counts.

Back in the 90s, DH and I tried to emigrate to Australia. After filling out a ton of paperwork, we got a very polite "not just no, but hell no."

Most countries are like that, actually.

Harry S. Truman's observation made long ago:

The people don't want a phony Democrat. If it's a choice between a genuine Republican, and a Republican in Democratic clothing, the people will choose the genuine article, every time; that is, they will take a Republican before they will a phony Democrat . . .

If you look at the current cop of Dems running for Congress, they are all running to the right. Everything from clean energy to immigration. They think they have to run to the right of Obama in order to win. One candidate won't even say if she voted for Obama.

They all think the ticket to getting elected is running to the right...away from Obama.

"Vote for us because we're not as crazy as the other guys."

While that slogan is indisputably true, it is also true that voters in mid-terms need a far greater motivation to get out and vote than stale rehashed versions of 'lesser of two evilisms'.

My prediction: liberals, radicals and progressives will do just fine, just as they mostly did in 2010. Blue dogs and centrist Dems will take another walloping, exactly as they did in 2010.
