TLC Pulls Plug On 'Honey Boo Boo'

http://deadline.com/2014/10/honey-boo-boo-cancel-tlc-child-molestation-mama-june-859493/

TLC has pulled the plug on its reality series Here Comes Honey Boo Boo after reports the tot’s mother was again seeing a former boyfriend convicted of child molestation.

“Supporting the health and welfare of these remarkable children is our only priority,” the network said in its statement — which, in an abundance of concern for the children and in keeping with the seriousness of the situation, it first gave to tabloid TMZ before sending it out to the rest of the media.

“TLC is faithfully committed to the children’s ongoing comfort and well-being,” the network added for good measure. Seriously, you can’t make this stuff up.

This despite a last-ditch effort on the part of Mama June to salvage the show. On Facebook she said: “I want to make a post trying to clear up the rumors remember you can’t believe everything you read! Ppl sell stories to the tabloid everyday that r false! It isn’t true i promise my kids r #1 priority over anything else and I would never put them in danger period over this or anything else they r my life this is my past I left him 10 yrs ago for it and I wouldn’t go back.”

This was their excuse for cancelling the show outright. Not sure I understand why the show was on the air as long as it was.

From what I've read she is back together with a guy who is not only a convicted child molester, but the guy molested her 8 year old relative (they were dating at that time also).

She denies she'd go back, yet she was seen sneaking off with the guy. Yea, that's real child protection there.

Honey boo boo was a despicable show that demeaned the little girl mostly for the audience to get a laugh. The Duggars are a very good family who supports each other and heck even built their own home. Doesn't get better than that family at least in TV standards. I occasionally watch it...no biggie.

Two families where the adults are profiting off the saga that is their children.

The Duggars are NOT a good family as they raise their daughters without the choice of choosing NOT to be submissive.

Watch it all you want. It's trash as far as I'm concerned.

The Duggars aren't exactly ordinary. Sure, they boast that they live debt free. But don't you think YOU might be doing pretty well if you had a television show?

They force the older daughters to care for the younger children and don't allow them the freedom to choose. It is a completely male dominated family structure with women there only to bear children.

We would be a better country if there was more real equality, better paying jobs, universal healthcare, and available birth control. The Duggar mentality would take us back about a hundred years.

I remember being jealous of those who could afford cable and getting all the channels with serious artistic and educational programming: Bravo, A&E, TLC, Discovery, The History Channel, etc.

Now, I finally have cable and it's all CRAP!!!!!

Was it always crap or have things deteriorated?

The Learning Channel had programs about health and science, A&E showed artistic and foreign movies, The History Channel was about history: I was sorting though some old VHS tapes before taking them to the recycler this summer, and came across the movies Danton and La Nuit de Varennes, in French with English subtitles, that I taped off of A&E back in 1989.

But there appears to be a corollary to Gresham's Law ("bad money drives good out of circulation&quot that applies to cable television. Or: 157 channels and there's nothing on.

WHY must we elevate these cretins, and shower money and fame upon them, thereby anointing them with some cockeyed "credibility"? I guess that's for the "if yer so smart, why ain't you rich?" crowd. The whole notion of glorifying these this low-life individuals by giving them their own TV shows makes me gag. It sends a very sick and subtle signal: if you want to be rich and successful - become jackasses like these folks. They're laughing all the way to the bank! And "Duck Dynasty" and the duggars and the rest of 'em, too. With several kartrashians on the side.

I have never watched the show. Don't know much about it, but this just leaves the kid with less protection and minders.

Mediaite.com: McDaniel was convicted of aggravated child molestation "...on an 8 year old" relative of Mama June — and sent to serve a ten-year prison sentence in 2004.

June had three other daughters at the time (Honey was born the following year). Though one of them was eight years old in 2004, I'll be charitable and presume that the victim wasn't a member of June's IMMEDIATE family. But still, why is she letting this man back into her life while nine-year-old Honey Boo Boo is under her roof?

As for TLC, this doesn't have to be a loss for them. June is no longer with Honey's father, who she never married: How about a new reality show based on their custody fight?

rocktivity

P.S. And what's with Deadline's poutrage about "tabloid TMZ" breaking the story? Though their reporters play the role of subversive, intrepid, independent journalistic rouges, it's owned by the very mainstream Time Warner.

UPDATE: And, just when you thought this story could not get any skankier, one of Mama June’s daughters, the now 20-year old Anna Cardwell (aka Chickadee), has come forward saying she was a victim of Mark McDaniel at age eight (McDaniel got out of prison this past March)...

She's not the one who was eight in 2004, obviously. But we don't know exactly when the assault took place.

Hooray for me...

...is June's own daughter, Anna...and Anna wanted us to tell everybody.

June is dating her ex, Mark McDaniel, who was released in March after serving 10 years in prison for forcing a girl to perform oral sex on him. June has been dating McDaniel since his release -- something she denies despite photos and other evidence -- and that's why TLC cancelled "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo."

Anna Cardwell -- who is now 20 and married with a child -- believed her mom earlier today that she was not dating the man who molested her. But we're told Anna has now received a lot more info, and is now convinced June (has) betrayed her...

...We're told...the only way June can see her granddaughter is if McDaniel is nowhere to be seen. We're also told TLC reached out to Anna today to offer her counseling.

June is committing a crime as far as I'm concerned -- if it isn't endangering the welfare of a minor, it sure ought to be!

An astonishing number of children at our agency were there because one parent molested them and the other parent chose living with the molester over custody of their children. It also wasn't uncommon for the non-pedo parent to get the kids and then for the kids to wind up back in care when it turned out they'd snuck the pedo into the household thinking social services wouldn't catch wind of it. Once the red sticker goes on the file social services pays pretty close attention to who overnights at your house.

I'd argue that it's another manifestation of the abuse cycle and I wouldn't be shocked if they were acting out stuff that happened in their own childhoods. But at the same time I really don't care why.

If I were a member of their extended family I'd be getting a lawyer and pushing for custody of the minor children to go to somebody more responsible before social services made that decision for them.
