I especially loved the gales of laughter coming from the car with the dashcam when the 'cavalry' came to the rescue.

(57,081 posts)but it was deserved and it wasn't over the top. I want a dash cam.
My wife and I watched Russian dash cams a couple of times. I don't want to drive in Russia. Bad driving skills and scams are atrocious, marking lanes and staying in them when they are marked is minimal.

(4,205 posts)It is cheap, been using it about a year and works pretty good for the price.
The one that comes up at this address is the same as the one I have, got it through amazon but different dealer.. Has front facing cam and second cam for rear facing, mounted under my rear view for front view, attached to rear window for out the back.

(111,255 posts)It is so unexpected. I doubt the scammer was particularly hurt, mostly humiliated. It's hard to beat anybody to a pulp wearing any sort of big costume.
MADem
(135,425 posts)It's just so damn funny!

(111,255 posts)"Mickey Mouse, Snuffleupagus, Sponge Bob and Topol Gigio beat me up after they wrecked my car!"
MADem
(135,425 posts)That's why they got out and beat him--he was trying to extort some rubles for an accident he caused.
I guess they do what is called in many countries the "front bumper/driver's side" rule; where pretty much if you've got damage in those areas, absent proof, it's presumed to be YOUR fault. There are apparently a lot of cases of motor vehicle fraud over there, it's pretty rampant. That's the downside of driving in Russia, that you have to deal with this kind of thing...but the upside for us is that we get to see some hilarious dashcam footage!
Warpy
(111,255 posts)He's probably going to tuck his tail betwixt his legs and hope nobody filmed him getting the snot kicked out of him by a bunch of cartoon characters.

(135,425 posts)He's the laughingstock of the DASHCAM FAIL meme!!!

(111,255 posts)Most of them have the sense to piss off once the camera is pointed out to them.
The last one is scary, the buddy of the squat car looked like he was coming after the guy who refused to play with a tire iron.
This bullshit comes here, I'll probably stop driving.
MADem
(135,425 posts)was going to try to scam you, and the threats to your life, it's just not worth it. Hyper vigilance can be exhausting!
Take the expense of a car, the expense of rising insurance for that car, gas, maintenance, etc....and that buys a lot of bus and subway passes, to say nothing of cab rides! The only pain is if you want to take a highway trip, either local or long distance, if the train isn't too good. I suppose if that's rare enough, you could always get a hire car/limo, and just suck it up!
