NYC boy being observed for possible Ebola symptoms

A 5-year-old boy is being observed in isolation at Bellevue Hospital in New York City for possible Ebola symptoms, according to media reports on Monday.

The boy, who arrived in the United States on Saturday from Guinea, had a 103 degree Fahrenheit (39 degrees Celsius) fever, ABC News reported. He has not been tested for the virus and is not under quarantine, ABC said, citing officials with New York City's health department.

The New York Post reported that the boy had been vomiting and was transported from his home in the Bronx by emergency medical workers.

1. So the asymptomatic nurse without a fever goes into quarantine and this boy doesn't?

If he comes up with a negative Ebola test should he and his family be quarantined anyway for 21 days like Kaci Hickok?

If so why not everyone from any country that's had ebola cases?

This is all political optics and has zero to do with public health and safety.

He is facing a serious legal problem with the detention of the nurse.

... the report says he's in isolation at Bellvue Hospital in NYC. That's probably the first thing they did when he was admitted. May not have the results back yet.

... the whole thing with Christie and Cuomo was nothing but politics. In spite of Christie letting her go this morning, I'd still sue his ass all the way to Maine and back. I wonder if she and her lawyer will have a press conference on the way out of town, maybe at the airport?

15. OMG Crowd is a perfect descriptor. I argue with DU'ers all the time but can't on this subject

For me it's cut neatly into appropriate v. inappropriate.

So many times I can see both sides and play devil's advocate. It's my nature.

Not on this subject.

The jibbering OMG Crowd never listen to the facts. One of which is supposedly a freaking nurse, too. sheesh.
