Monsanto alone spent about $9 Mil this election fighting GMO labeling...in 2 states
"Monsanto, the biotech firm that holds patents for many of the most popular genetically modified crop varieties, has contributed a total of $8,836,650 against GMO labeling initiatives in Oregon and Colorado for this election cycle."
Other big spenders include Pepsi, Coca Cola, Kraft, LandoLakes, General Mills, & Kelloggs.

Some countries have no need for a labeling law because they do not allow any GE food, such as Zambia, Benin and Serbia, which all have total bans on GE imports and cultivation.

(14,549 posts)a law passed by voters. Vermont will be tough for them because it is up to the GMO people to prove that consumers have no right to truth on labeling.

(51,076 posts)I wouldn't care less if they had to label or not but when they start splicing genes from another species altogether then I have a problem with that. If what the companies were doing was actually for the good for mankind/world in general, that would be one thing but they're not. What they're doing is good for their bottom line, as evidenced by the amounts of money they're spending fighting this, then that is wrong
GMO and selective breeding are totally different animals altogether.
