WARREN TELLS CO-HOSTS CHARLIE ROSE, NORAH ODONNELL AND GAYLE KING THAT THE BOSTON GLOBE IS WRONG TO ENDORSE A REPUBLICAN FOR GOVERNOR
snip
WARREN: I think that we really have a choice here in this election between Democrats and Republicans, and let me make it as concrete as I can, because this is where the evidence is. We believe that no one should work full time and still live in poverty. That means raising the minimum wage. Democrats have proposed that, every Democrat supports it. If we do that, we literally would lift millions of children out of poverty. The Republicans filibustered. Democrats say we need to lower the interest rate on student loans. The government should not be making billions of dollars in profits off the backs of our kids. Republicans filibustered. Equal pay for equal work.
snip
WARREN: Look, lets remember that the Republicans said were going to do everything we can to make him a failed president. Were going to block every move.
snip
ROSE: But the issue theyre making is leadership.
WARREN: They certainly dont want the President to have any chance to move the American country forward and to help strengthen Americas middle class. Look what weve fought for. Under President Obamas leadership, we fight to raise the minimum wage, we fight to reduce the interest rate on student loans, we fight for equal pay for equal work.
snip
WARREN: I think its really about whose side do you stand on. And for me, thats the whole heart of it. You can see whos out there fighting to reduce the interest rate on student loans, thats the best example I can get. That all of the Democrats stood up for this, the Republicans filibustered this. Do you know why they filibustered it? They filibustered it because as they said youd have to have millionaires and billionaires throw a little more money into the kitty to make up for this.

Charlie, oh yes an irritating ass, sea!
I love EW. Never talk about her here much, yet she is my Senator. She is used as a tool here to bash the President. Funny... she just stood up for him and put the blame where it is due, on the GOHFuckingP!

. . Rose is not nearly as irritating.
Especially after you turn the sound off and mute anything he has to say.
Because he never says anything that sounds like it didn't just come out of the can, a prepared script!!

(34,589 posts)who appointed the President's economic team. Apparently these people fucked over millions of Americans in exchange for lots of shekels from Wall Street when they left government "service"
"They (the President's economic team) protected Wall Street. Not families who were losing their homes. Not people who lost their jobs. And it happened over and over and over"
- Sen. Warren
Maybe Holder can get on top of this mystery, once he's finished his report on the Ferguson PD which may include suggestions for improvement.

(96 posts)....is that she can rarely go 2 minutes without bashing the Right. Don't misunderstand me, I just think that if you spend 50% of your time criticizing others over a problem then you're only spending 50% of your time trying to fix it yourself. That and I had a good laugh when she was claiming credit for creating OWS only to deny it later on when OWS went to shit. As if we cant Google every word a modern politician has ever spoken.

(17,111 posts)It's politics. You better point out what those jackasses have blocked over and over.
And you can laugh at Warren for whatever. She has a populist message that people like and she is learning how to deliver it. Laugh at your own peril.
Enjoy your stay.

(96 posts)I had no idea this board has such a problem with pretenders when I found it on Google. But the answer is yes and as far as convincing you goes, I guess you'll need to first understand that I have no problem with criticizing Democrats because I gave them my vote and I expect a certain standard in return.
It seems every year since 2008 has been one of diminishing returns and ya I know the Right has much blame to own, but my vote came with a slim tolerance for excuses. At a certain point I'm less interested in hearing why a politician couldn't do what they promised and more interested in see who can replace them.

(68,644 posts)And hardly worth challenging.
But for any readers, to clarify, the Daily Beast made claimed to quote her words verbatim but that was just a paraphrasing.
What's more, much of her work truly was complimentary to the movement and, as such, it's not really inaccurate to say she and her work was foundational to OWS.
I tend to lean toward what Mother Jones says she said:
"Alright, it is a grassroots movement and I am very pleased that they took responsibility for their movement and they are growing it the way they want to grow it. I'm gonna have to actually go back and read what I said. I had a long conversation with someone about the Occupy Wall Street movement. I said, I think, I've been protesting Wall Street for a very long time. And that I understand the frustration, I share their frustration, with what's going, that right now Washington is wired to work well for those on Wall Street who can hire lobbyists and lawyers and it doesn't work very well for the rest of us. That's what I'm talking about, that's why I'm running for office, and that's it."
I know she's scary to some.
But she's not to me!

Wall Street Blocked Elizabeth Warren From Her Consumer Protection Board And This Is What They Got
WASHINGTON -- A clip of Massachusetts freshman Sen. Elizabeth Warren posing a simple question to bank regulators this past week has been viewed more than 1 million times, putting it on pace to become the consumer advocate's most-viral video hit to-date.
Three separate clips of the back-and-forth on YouTube combine for over 900,000 views, and a clip by HuffPost, which was the first to report on the exchange, has generated well over 200,000 views. It was Warren's first foray on the Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee.
The question that flummoxed the bank regulators: When was the last time you took a Wall Street bank to trial?

Elizabeth Warrens consumer protection dreams just became a reality
The two years it took to confirm Richard Cordray to direct the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau were only part of the long fight for consumer financial protection.
Following Harry Reids threat to eliminate the filibuster for executive appointments the so-called nuclear option the Senate finally confirmed Richard Cordray as Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, after a nearly two-year battle. According to Roosevelt Institute Fellow Mike Konczal, this delay had nothing to do with opposition to Cordray. The Republican Party acknowledged that President Obama had chosen a perfectly fine candidate; they just didnt want anyone running the CFPB, because they arent into consumer protection.
It took two years to convince the Republicans to allow the installation of a CFPB Director, but the fight for consumer protection has been going on for much longer then that. The Roosevelt Institutes Make Markets Be Markets report, published in March 2010, featured an earlier proposal for a Consumer Financial Protection Agency by Elizabeth Warren. As the architect and early advocate of the Bureau, Warren was many progressives first pick for director, but she was passed over when it became clear that Republicans would not confirm her.
Luckily for us, the CFPB is now able to function as intended, and Warrens work on consumer protection and banking regulation continues in the Senate. Her next step? Shes pushing for a 21st Century Glass-Steagal Act, co-sponsored with John McCain, to protect Americans from future banking crises. When CNBC anchor Joe Kernan tried to push back at Warren on this proposal, she pointed out that everyone told her the CFPB would never pass and we saw how those predictions panned out.

Elizabeth Warren does rock, like so few Democrats have the guts to do. I think standing up for one's convictions is the biggest problem the Democratic Party has. And they need to stop allowing the GD Republicans to frame every issue. PO isn't unpopular. His low popularity "ratings" are due to the Republicans disrespecting everything he does and says, for the oath they took to try to disallow him a second term. If PO's low popularity means anything, it means an "A" on the propaganda psywar they've been waging on him via the M$M!
And SHAME on the Democrats who have distanced themselves from him. Did no one learn from the 2000 election, that you can't turn your back on Democrats in elections???? Had PO had the opportunity to campaign with the red-state Democrats, it would have been a way around the Republican propaganda! PO knows how to WIN elections! He knows how to fire up the voters! He knows how to be a gentleman when he's heckled!!!!
The Big Daug and Hillary and Elizabeth are coming back to KY this week to campaign with Alison, so that is good. Anything it takes to get rid of the curse of KY, Mitch McTurtle!
