51% of the people think that the national issues outweigh the local issues.
The argument that all politics are local won't die anytime soon, despite it's needing to be dead some time ago.
As we cross the final few days before the election, Democrats are waking to the fact that this was going to be a tough election nationally. No help from the President with his poor approval numbers. No help from the National party that has been silent on national issues, with the notable exception that all Democratic Candidates have mentioned the War on Women at least a dozen times.
So another poll that shows that we entered this election season dumb and happy, convinced that we would win because the Republicans are idiots.

Most voters choosing between the country's two major parties say that the main reason they are supporting their candidate is because of his or her positions on the issues. The candidate's party and personal qualities are far less likely to be chosen.
More broadly, national issues (51 percent) will matter more than local issues (37 percent) this fall; this is the case for both Republicans and Democrats.
But all politics are local, and everyone knows that the Republicans are awful. Nope, they don't.
Check out the numbers, the Independants are breaking for the Republicans. We stood around and waited for the Republicans to self destruct, and they didn't do it. I keep beating this drum, but we have to earn each vote we get. We have to work for it, and we have to do something with it when we do win. So the next time someone explains to you in a smug tone that all politics are local, remember that they were wrong in 2014, and if you wonder who to blame? Don't blame the voters. They wanted us to run on something, but we passed on the issues.
