gerrymander so many areas are mostly republican? How many likely voters came from these areas?

No it doesn't. And people's area codes don't change when their congressional district does.

It's a statewide race, no gerrymandering.
McConnell has consistently been +4 to +8 ahead in the polls since August, today's poll showing him +5 is right about where they have been at for two months unfortunately.

There might have been a day when a poll was to gauge a persons acceptability or not. Today polls are used to try to sway opinions.
