Here in Arizona ...

we're having a primary for the replacement for the seat formerly held by Gabby Giffords.

On the gop side, it's being hotly contested by three nuts and one political unknown.

One of the nuts, Jesse Kelly, narrowly lost to Giffords in the last election and is the front runner.

An example of his nuttiness: During a recent Candidate Q&A Night, the topic of taxation levels was brought up. His response ... "10% ... If it's good enough for my Lord and Saviour, it's good enough for us."

Well, last night I saw one of his campaign ads in which he states he's gonna create jobs by cutting taxes and getting rid of government regulations.

So I called his campaign and asked to speak with him. Surprisingly, they put me through to him. I asked him: "Mr. Kelly, I understand you are involved in your father's construction firm, is that correct?"

He responded that he was and that experience operating a small business puts him head and shoulders above the other candidates.

I went on, "Okay, Mr. Kelly. Since you operated a small business, could you explain how decreasing the tax rate or lessening government regulations would have you hiring an employee that you don't need to work a project; or, give me an example of how the current tax rate and current levels of regulation has prevented you from a hiring an employee that you need to work a project?"

He stammered through a couple of disconnected talking points about job-killing taxs and regulations then told me he had to take a very important call.

Second - Right a Letter to the Editor and share this with your local media. They might ignore it - but they might now. Also do you have a Penny Saver, any little tiny weeklies? I take out 'ads' slamming Leonard Lance (NJ 7th) in mine all the time.

You'd think by now he would stop taking my phone calls, responding to my emails, and letting me into Town Halls!

Also - go to his Facebook page, 'like' him and then share what you shared here. Force him or an aid into the discussion in public.

I hope your district is still blue enough to hold the seat. This guy sounds like another GOP talking points robot, a man who spews bumper stickers from his mouth like a ticker tape machine.

I'll never understand how Barstool Republicans can rally behind a candidate who's slogan is "If I am elected, I'll give myself a tax cut", except they always add that they'll do it on the backs of poor minorities.

the district is still Blue enough to hold the seat, especially considering the alternatives.

Plus, the Democratic candidate was Gabby's Chief of Staff and played a big hand in her legislative agenda. Besides, he's a good guy.

And lastly, he was also shot along with Gabby, so he will likely get some sympathy support.

Ron Barber wasn't Gabby's chief of staff, that honor belonged to Pia Carusone. She was the one who held the office together for a whole year while Gabby was recovering.

about Barber----"Before Ron Barber ran for Congress and promised to save Medicare... Ron Barber was busy 'helping shape' policies that cut Medicare by $500 billion." And then a picture of a Medicare card torn in half.
My gawd, where do get this shit?
I used to exchange e-mails with Giffords, mostly trying to change her blue dog ways, and call for the end of the wars. But I voted for her and will vote for Barber. Jesse Kelly is bad news.
