Look out for GOP vote challengers on Election Day!
They'll be out in my home state, so be aware that they might be where you live!
Mind you, where I live the folks who work my polling station of been doing so for AGES.. so if you've gone more than once, they'll likely recall you and not ID ya.. one of the perks of small town livin'...
curious to see if ill be ID'd for the first time in my entire life by two wonderful women who knew my grandmother (and thus me) for most of their life...
"Invoking a 1974 law, the Kentucky Republican party has asked local party executive committees to place a "challenger" at voting precincts.
The law creating the appointment of (voting) challengers and inspectors at precincts in Kentucky was enacted in June 21, 1974, under Kentucky Revised Statutes Chapter 117.315. Under the law each political party is entitled to have two challengers at each precinct during an election. The names of the challengers must be provided to the county clerk 20 days before a primary and regular election and 15 days prior to a special election.
The duties of a challenger include: the challenge of the eligibility of a voter who presents himself at the precinct to vote, but who the challenger has reason to believe: is not a duly registered voter in the precinct; is not a resident of the precinct; is a convicted felon who has not had his civil rights restored; or is not the person he claims to be. Challengers must state the challenge to the precinct election officer and state the reason for the challenge."
