I am a Senior Female hear me roar, Republicans

Unmarried "sluts" vote Democrat because they want a Sugar Daddy? lol My REPUBLICAN voting husband of 40 years, has lost his job numerous times due to offshoring, and WE have needed government assistance, including when we had "only" two young children. We were very happy that is ALL we had since we almost lost everything. Food pantry food is fun. Right. My husband doesn't want to talk about that even 20 years later. I thought a RING ON YOUR FINGER solved everything, Republicans? Guess, not even with a REPUBLICAN husband. That is the subject of another thread.

I also do not have amnesia despite my age. I do remember what it was like, even decades ago in "liberal" NYC, for women trying to get ahead and having to deal with issues of work discrimination based on gender and marital status. "Are you married yet?" "How many children do you plan on having?" "Will you take off from work when your children are sick?" My MALE husband never ever had to answer those questions.

I got mine (married) so screw all other women? Well, I have two DAUGHTERS. Both are married, including my older one who is married to a WOMAN. Oh, horror with that one. My older daughter deserves the SAME RIGHTS as her married to a man sister. Speaking of which, my younger daughter also wants to CONTROL her own fertility, and not make as many babies for the "Motherland" as possible. Her quote, "I would rather have an ONLY child, than as many as the religious right thinks I should have". End of story. Again, as a Senior female I remember those days. I don't want my daughters, or anyone else's daughters, to have to relive them, dear REPUBLICANS.

Now as a SENIOR female. Dear Ted Cruz, I do not want your STINKING VOUCHER to give to a for profit insurance for my medical insurance. You can take that one and put it where the sun doesn't shine. Also, when I was working, I turned down every single sales pitch for your 401K, 403B "plans" in favor of a PENSION. You can take that one to and put it in the same place as your Medicare "plan".

Dear Republicans, including my HUSBAND, you have a serious problem with WOMEN. AGE and MARITAL status does not matter. We are all SISTERS.

1. I went on a job interview
Tue Nov 4, 2014, 04:54 PM
Nov 2014

and was asked, "What does your husband think of you working?"

This was right after I finished my Bachelor of Arts in the late 1970s.

I also had an interviewer imply it was bad that I had a B.A. in a natural science instead of a B.S., like I was stupid.
I explained that the liberal arts college I graduated from did NOT offer a B.S. in that subject.

He didn't listen and still thought I was stupid.

I agree, HockeyMom. I remember the bad old days of men expecting women to have a husband to support them. And our mothers and grandmothers had it worse.

in my case it was my dad's signature required.

In job applications I was told things like "we only hire women who are pretty enough to get the male customers to purchase our product" and you are not (despite having a graduate degree and the technical license required, which very few people had at the time). Sexist and insulting all wrapped up in one sentence!

Good post HockeyMom!

I'm not poor now, but I will never forget that I was. I have equal rights now as an LGBT person (at least in my state), but I will never forget when I didn't. Same with being a woman in the dark ages trying to climb the corporate ladder before I started my own business.

NEVER FORGET -- even if the crap you experienced earlier in life seems like less of an issue now. Never forget! Because sooner or later those rethugs will screw you in some way or another, no matter how far it feels like you have come. Who the hell ever thought we'd be revisiting reproductive issues again in 2014??!

when my parents divorced and we lost our home, you know because the bank would not allow a woman's name on the mortgage. Yeah those days were fun. I also know my Mom stopped being a baby making machine thanks to Ct vs Griswald.

No I don't want to go back to those days. I don't want my kids being denied equal rights based on their gender, who they love, financial status, religious beliefs or any other reason the tealiban can think of.

who marched in Washington, DC for a woman's right to choose back in early January of 1973, just a few short weeks before Roe v. Wade became the law of the land. It was cold out there and being pelted with garbage and called traitor, whore, and unAmerican doesn't sting any less when the temps are at freezing or below. But here we are having to protest for our rights all over again. This time the fight means we older women MUST stand strong for our younger sisters who don't know what it's like to live in an America where birth control and clean, safe, legal abortion aren't the law of the land. We need to educate but not pontificate. Guide but not gouge. Let's keep on keeping on.

GO SANDRA FLUKE! I voted for you for California State Senate! Sandra is another "limbaugh" Democratic Slut. May we prevail over the land!!

Back in the sixties when my husband and I separated, I could not get my own auto insurance. So Ted, things may be getting crowded down there where the sun don't shine. A whole lot of us have outgrown you.
