If Kay Hagan goes down tonight, I will chalk it up to voter suppresion from the Repubs.

I just checked the numbers for the turnout in 2012.

In Orange County--Dem stronghold--about 75,000 votes were registered for Obama/Romney in
2012. Looking at the returns for the Senate race between Hagan and Tillis, only 50,000
votes are being shown for Orange County with 100% results reported.

That's just unbelievable. Of all counties, Orange knew how important this election was
for Dems.

I really wonder how much of that reduced turnout is due to college vote suppression.

Geeze, I really hope this is a moot post and Hagan picks up votes from Mecklenburg and
Durham counties that are showing strong leads for her, but still have a lot of votes to report.

Damn.

"In Raleigh, Republican voter Edward Sanders, 59, said he voted for Hagan in 2008 but decided this time to go with Tillis.

"I don't particularly like Tillis, but he seemed more likely to shake things up in Washington,” said Sanders, a mechanical engineer. "

of their party and voting Dem.

I think there are numbers being fudged somewhere. Hagan outperformed and it's not showing up.

I don't think it's voter suppression.

Obama has failed as president. Sorry, that is my take.

I voted for him twice. He blew it.

Very disappointed, but not surprised.

But honestly, Kays people ran a poor campaign.

Most of her TV ads looked more like she was running for school board.

The rest just kept saying how moderate she was.

No new ideas pitched, no bragging or taking credit forwhat she did to make the lives of North Carolinian's better.

She ran a campaign that was just against Tillis, but wasn't really for anything.

in 2010.

But Orange County is a huge Dem stronghold. We had three visits from Dem workers
knocking on our door for this election. Orange County goes Dem by at least
a 2/1 margin--one of the largest in the state.

The early voting location for the UNC campus this year was off-campus--at Hillel House--
which is really out of the way for most students.

when student numbers are compared. I also suspect that the effort to suppress student voting worked well, coming as it does during semester crunch.

The state board of elections is reporting that NC set a record this election, with turnout 20% higher than in 2010 midterms:
