Somehow people can't connect the dots because they're so full of it.

How many times did Bill Clinton trumpet his welfare reform, as if it were the greatest thing ever? How often did he talk about how great the economy was doing under his leadership? How raising taxes on the very wealthy helped everyone? How much did we hear about the FMLA?

He didn't miss an opportunity to trumpet his achievements. And generally, people felt good about how they were doing under his administration. Many families currently feel as if the country is "headed in the wrong direction." Rightly or wrongly, the President gets blamed and everyone associated with him (e.g. Burke in WI, Quinn in IL).

But I am having a hard-time believing that all of those virtual ties were swept to victories by the Republicans legitimately.

I don't think all of the voters in this Country are dumb, as was implied in another thread. I think some are uninformed, and some are just uneducated. But I do not believe there was no manipulation going on behind the scenes -- especially in Kentucky and Florida.

We had two years and more of obstruction, extended vacations and general gridlock. Let's see what they do to screw over those who voted for them. It's gonna be awful for the least of us because it's always the poor and disenfranchised who suffer from greedy regimes, however, when their policies blow up in the faces of those who voted for them, it might create the permanent change we need. It's just going to be painful.

I have a hard time believing the Republicans can hold onto that very long. Democrats need to find ways to get more people to the polls and increase overall turnout in these mid terms. The more people who vote, I think the better the chances. Hopefully, 2016 will be better (though I don't know much about potential match ups).

I'm more concerned with the house and State level offices. At that level, it seems pretty thoroughly rigged throughout the nation.

Once again, just like before. This isn't some damn game, Americans. This is real and if you don't get off your asses and vote, this is exactly what happens. Enjoy your next two years of bullshit while you lament about how both parties are the same, and how the "establishment" is in control. See how that one works out for you. I'll be watching.

Stupid fucking idiots. Every single Democrat who sat your asses at home and didn't vote are responsible for this mess. Did you see the turnout totals? Disgusting. It's not as if this was important or anything. We should have had 75% minimum registered voter turnout. Not total population, just those who bother to register. What is wrong with us? We are a bunch of apathetic, just want to complain, lazy can't get off our asses to participate in democracy shits.

Forgive me, I'm very upset tonight and venting. I may, or may not, return to being politically active. This is the second time I've been through this same insane crap and I don't know if I have a third round in me. How do people older than me manage to keep going when they face this type of political insanity in this country over and over again? I really don't get it. I'll still vote, but fuck wasting my time knocking on doors and calling people who have no intention of acting, and are just giving mouth service.

We have become a third world nation. Yeah this is the beginning of the end for re-pubs. Their battle of the bulge, last stand so to speak. But and so while in the end I know they will lose as they die off, I fear they have damaged our country to the point that it will take generations to become a free country again. We are not governed by elected officials any more. Instead we are ruled by cooperate appointees. That is what we have now officially become.
