I can't go back to horrible, overpriced insurance, nooo.

(39,313 posts)I know that common wisdom is that people like it and won't give it up, but they did hammer on it endlessly and have to answer to their base in some way.

(25,183 posts)They will make attempts to repeal it, but will be rebuffed. However, I expect them to enact tweaks to it that get attached to other legislation, such as a budget, that will present the President with a hard choice.

(28,136 posts)...won't let Repubs touch it in any cutting way.
Turns out that while flawed the ACA is helping many millions of people.

(4,733 posts)up into pieces, and pass with D support, certain 'fixes' to the ACA, such as the medical device tax and the 'Cadillac' plan tax. Those are both by themselves unpopular even among D's. What they will not do is replace those revenue streams which will lead to further ACA problems.
The question is if Senate D's will back the ACA or not. After this political season, I think not.

(38,506 posts)Obamacare was the only way I could get insurance, because there are hardly any jobs where I live, except temp. I found out I may have Cushing's syndrome. I often stagger and fall for no reason. I was supposed to have a mammogram too, but if they cut Obamacare, I won't be able to afford that either.

(5,790 posts)I think they will "overhaul" the plan. Repeal will be vetoed. Overhaul might be a topic of discussion. Or, it too may be vetoed. Let's see what happens.

(9,314 posts)of people like the Koch Brothers who think the government should not be awarding subsidies so the minions can have healthcare. If this type of stuff keeps up, it might interfere with the Federal subsidies they and their ilk receive.
So in good faith answer, who do you believe would win that argument -- organizations involved with health care or the rich that finance our elections?
That is a sincere question.

(54,770 posts)Now, they can take some of the credit for "straightening it out."
If Obama had proposed Medicare prescription drug coverage, it would not have passed under bush in 2005.
Like all politics, who really knows what will happen. KKKochs and Republicans might realize Medicare for all will save corporations billions.

(54,770 posts)I don't think they'd get away with repealing it at this point. They've used it to wound Obama and take control of Senate. That's what they wanted.

(3,811 posts)They'll attach crippling restrictions and defunding provisions to must-pass omnibus appropriations bills.
It's even possible that the senate could take up one of the many house repeal bills and attach it whole as an amendment to another essential bill.
I think they will do this and soon. But of course I could be wrong.
God help us.
