Center/right Dem Presidents, policies and Congress-critters *always* succeed in "electing" far right

...GOP Congresses, eventually. (And sometimes, not even "eventually.&quot

It happens over and over, yet people refuse to "see" it.

The Democrats are always terrified of not being "liked." And the crazy white folks (being, I hope, a relatively sane white guy, I'm gonna go ahead and say that) who turn out in high dudgeon in these mid-terms are never gonna like them.

The Dem "leadership" won't take on corporate ownership of our political process, because they, too, are corporate-owned.

They can't deal, in fundamental ways, with economic inequality, the collapsing biosphere, the militarization of foreign policy (or spending priorities) or any of the other illnesses plaguing the country.

Unfortunately, the right-tilting Beltway Dems are themselves part of that illness.

I'm not sure what the "way out" is. It's not in "bandages." Or continued cowardice.

As a parent of young adults, what worries me is that nothing fundamental will change -- not really -- until after the collapse comes -- that perfect storm of ecological/economic issues that always takes down overextended empires...

Isn't that why Obama was elected twice, isn't that why progressives worked so hard to get Obama elected and how the very first black man was elected twice to the presidency.

Because he came from a community organiser background, because he cared about the little guy, because he promised to fundamentally change the way Washington worked, because he had visions and plans to make this a better nation for everyone in it and not just the elite rich, because he was against waging war all over the globe, AND most importantly because he was a true progressive who would lead the charge to get progressive ideas enacted, etc.

Yet after getting the best candidate available who could do all those things above (an actual community organiser, not some business type who only cared about the rich and their dominance over American politics) elected, that very person turns around and squanders the very best chance to get all those things achieved and in the process reinforces the hold that the rich have over Washington.

...whether due to the corruption of the campaign promise, the general spinelessness, or the need to be "liked" instead of making necessary policy, or a combination of those things...
