I can't believe Kansans voted those 2 yokels back in. I really thought they woould lose this time around. I heard last night that Johnson County turnout was big but it wasn't enough.

(13,424 posts)The Republicans simply turned out more voters in the states two most populous counties which helped Brownback win. The other major statewide races were not even close. We were trounced.

(18,868 posts)We have paper ballots in Missouri. I just read people voted Repub. Because they wanted a Repub. Senate. I feel like just forgetting about politics all together.

(2,149 posts)There are people in Kansas who wanted Roberts and Brownback to go, and voted yesterday.
But you're right, all of Kansas will see and feel the results of this election. Maybe it needs to get worse before it gets better.

(18,868 posts)Kansas is just few miles from where I live. I know there. But the right wing has just gotten so crazy. And most of Kansas is so rural and conservative. But how can normal people really believe that the military is building guillotines? Or FEMAis building concentration camps? I'm so disgusted right now.

(67,108 posts)best of times IMO. So many are so brainwashed, over and over again. It's like they are cut off from meaningful communications. It's not even a question of R, D or I ... it is simply having the ability to think for oneself and ferret out reality from delusional propositions ... and that seems to be totally lacking not only in parts of Kansas, but all across the US.

...as happened with Proctor & Gamble's moon logo?
Or believe that KISS (the band) stands for "Knights In Service to Satan"?
There's an entire tradition of hare-em-scare-em bullshit that's been melded with Bircher-style nuttery. Because it opens wallets like nobody's business.

(18,868 posts)It was nuts.
Are they still in business? Did they ever change their logo?

(67,108 posts)doing is what a sizable portion of Kansans want and love, not all, but enough to keep them in power. Propaganda works so well. F people over and have them say Thank You. Kansans IMO had better brace for even more misery.

(3,825 posts)Another 258 million dollar revenue shortfall in Kansas and more tax cuts on the horizon. Kansas will get what it voted for, and I don't feel too sorry for them anymore.

(18,868 posts)Not after this election.
There have been editorials in the Star almost daily about what an economic mess this governor has made of Kansas. We get daily reports on the budget shortfall. It's not like people don't know about this. And they voted the guy in again.
I just don't know how you fix stupid.

(3,825 posts)The Mo Lege added more crazy in Jeff City and the sane Democrats were defeated. I've heard that they want to give us the Kansas model for our schools here and tax refunds for the corporations and wealthy 1 percenters. Got called on another discussion on this board for calling the conservative voters stupid, but ignorance is fixable, this is crazy is stupid and dangerous. Facts and reality based decision making are thrown out the window. God help us.

I swear to God. It's like the Pod People.
