11/17/2014
..."Taking Reids offer is a risky move for the freshman senators future. If Democrats lose big again in two years, she will get part of the blame. After all, she is the strategic policy adviser for the Democratic Policy and Communications Committee.
This job is beneath Warrens standing.
...Warren excels at being the outsider, railing against big banks, Wall Street fat cats and Washington lobbyists who have rigged the game against ordinary people. Its a great, simplistic message that is resonating out there among a lot of voters, and not just in liberal Massachusetts.
But the populist hell-raiser fighting for the hammered middle class got snookered by Reid. Now that the Cambridge Democrats been co-opted by the ultimate Beltway blowhard, its going to make it difficult for her to be too tough on the party or the Obama administration.
Guess who is totally fine with being tough on Congress and the Obama administration now? Hillary Clinton. Shes happy to be far removed from her old Senate pals. Reid only brought in Warren to appease discontented liberals. But giving her a sketchy post just shows that the soon-to-be minority party still doesnt get it.
Senate Democrats suffered an embarrassing shellacking, and what do the remaining Senate Democrats do? Re-elect Reid and the rest of his leaders."

Well, I thought they were setting her up to run for president with that move. This opinion piece has me re-thinking things. Its fairly depressing. To me. Anyone have insights on this?

(34,589 posts)that is wrong with America today.
Everyone's so worried about not screwing up. A position like this gives her the opportunity to take a hit, but it also gives her an opportunity to do great things.
I think she's demonstrated that she's capable of great things.

(36,437 posts)The fact that a GOP flack like Joe Battenfeld is mad about this to the point of petulant snark means it was the right move all around.

(4,458 posts)they'll do whatever it takes to diminish the "Warren Effect"...to make us doubt not just this particular move, but Warren herself.
They first must "softly destroy" Warren lest it raise any alarm. It begins subtlety, then the volume is slowly turned up.
It is my belief: They know our psyche's well. We've been studied for decades. They understand our "buttons".
The good news for me: I doubt Warren will tolerate that. The question is, will "we" collectively stand solidly behind her (and other progs) no matter What "they" throw at us? Because remember Money Screams and Intimidates and then Wins.
WE must learn to Recognize, Isolate and Ignore the influence of Money from All angles! We can recognize, ignore and rebut their spoken BS-Why the hell can't we get the rest of it down?
I never watched or read a single piece of propaganda these last 4 elections.
Educate. Educate. Educate.
Not everyone has the time and even the means to stay current. Those who do understand, need to help those who don't/can't, understand whats going on, imo.

When Republic0ns lost to the Democrats and took a shellacking in the Presidential race in 2012 what changed...nothing. They just made sure they got the Supreme Court on their side to steal the next election.
Now they are just moving right along as if they didn't steal this election, and think Democrats should bow down to them and get rid of Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi and everybody else that they didn't like in the first place. A couple of the two main Democrats that Baggers hate in the first place.
And, if Hillary Clinton trys to buy into that b.s. - she really is a lost soul, and she may as well NOT run for President.
