The Great Lakes Snow Machine is on overdrive today.

I'm in southwest lower Michigan & have the earliest snow day I can ever remember. Woo hoo! The university I work at is closed, along with about 500+ other schools & businesses in my neck of western Michigan. Lake Michigan is awesome--it is sunny just 30 miles NE of us, while we have gotten 15+". Milwaukee, directly west of us, is clear, so this is exclusively a lake effect event. Winds are gusting to 30 MPH, so the very light, fluffy snow drifts back in just as soon as it's plowed or shoveled. At least it's easy to shovel! Two weather records are going to fall today--daily snowfall (previously 2.5&quot and lowest high temperature. It's only 19F at noon with -0F wind chill. I am going to stay in today and make a big batch of fluffy lemon blueberry pancakes to freeze. I like to do that then pop them in the toaster when I feel like pancakes. They're awesome. Yum!!!

Everybody effected by this snow event please stay safe. I hear they're REALLY getting slammed on the lee sided of Lakes Erie & Ontario.
