Video of Police Fatally Shooting 12-Year-Old Tamir Rice Released (close up details in new video)

Before the officers arrived, the video shows Rice playing with his toy gun. He’s walking up and down the sidewalk, pointing and waving the realistic-looking toy pistol. The dispatcher didn’t relay to the officers that the 911 caller reported the gun was probably fake, so officers were under the assumption it was real.

did not see this video or that is was right for them to kill this child, but my God this is not how one should act with a real or fake gun at any time. Maybe when playing with friends but alone pointing at people passing by is just foolish, but 12 year olds are foolish at times. I don't even know if his parents knew he had an airsoft gun at all. Please sit down with your children even if you do not own a firearm or BB gun or whatever and tell them to respect guns and do not treat them as toys even if they are toys. Today playing solider or cops and robbers can get a kid killed simple as that.

RIP Tamir

I can sympathize with the cops. What if it's real? What if he's a shooter?

Still, what's the hurry? If it's a shooter you'll know real soon. The risk is smalll and the reward of patience is great.

And I remember when I was a kid, and cowboy stuff was all the rage, and we ran around waving guns all day long, and nobody thought anything of it.

and of course I realize he is white and has a better chance of surviving a situation like this but still one never knows what your child is doing outside of your home. I found him googling assault rifles and hand guns and we don't own any of those things. I do have a pellet gun I bought many years ago but he had no idea I had it. I took it out and started to teach him about gun safety. We made a indoor range of sorts in the basement. He does not touch this rifle at all unless I'm with him and we never go outside.

I told him assault rifles take no skill and are just used to spray bullets and to kill as many people as possible. Hand guns are for killing people not game. We read Tamir's tragic story together but I still worry that one day he and his friends who may have a paint ball gun or an airsoft gun may act like fools and I might be planning funeral myself one day. This story has brought tears to my eyes and I wish I could give some sort of comfort to the family.

this happened a few months before this killing, a 15 year boy only 3 years older than Tamir...... Teach kids that life is precious, guns, war and killing is not cool. Maybe we all would benefit in the end. We reap what we sow....

But in today's world of guns, killing and war is consider cool. It boggles my mind that people don't make that connection. I don't want anyone to lose their child at all.

I posted pictures of ammosexuals at Sonic in Mineral Man's thread. Do not label me as a racist or pro police because I'm neither. You are barking up the wrong tree my friend. Happy Thanksgiving.

it a very tough subject to discuss and I don't want people to think I support the murder of Tamir or anyone, be it Michael Brown or Trayvon Martin just to name a few. BTW I would never support what was done at the Bundy ranch. Those guys are not patriots they are idiots and I see the double standard and it makes me sick. Sorry I got upset.
