(7,321 posts)"direct action" violence, but many are. I can understand the rational, but personally I don't agree or support it and it mainly why I no longer turn out for demos.

(32,130 posts)Are you saying all whites are law enforcement plants? The liquor store which I saw looted in real time on tv was being looted by AA teenagers and early 20s. Not a white in sight.
The fact is that various extreme left wing groups, which are mainly white, have been in Ferguson for weeks. It is not surprising to see whites as part of the violence. They are trying to relive the 60s of their parents generation. As an example:
What The Heck Is The 'Revolutionary Communist Party' Doing In Ferguson?
As if the current clashes in Ferguson, Mo., needed any additional stimuli, a group of habitual revolutionaries has tried to insert itself into the drama. It hasn't gone well, and they've clashed with protesters as well as police, as a short video posted by a St. Louis alderman shows.

The group, which calls itself the Revolutionary Communist Party, emerged from the movement period of the late 1960s and early 1970s but is now a "parasitic" organization, in the words of one sociologist who has studied it, that tends to pop up opportunistically when and where civil unrest develops.

(11,481 posts)if he/she thinks that will get him into the "club", he/she is SERIOUSLY mistaken. All of the owners' fellow travelers will be discarded once their usefulness to capitalism is complete.
IOW, I hope he/she isn't expecting a pension for their service.

(32,130 posts)It is only offensive if you are one of the ones out there throwing rocks and firebombs. That stuff did absolutely nothing in the 60s and will not now.

(7,321 posts)a handful of assholes hell bent on destruction and violence does not a majority make.
you don't get a pass at defining the "60's" with that broad brush. Definitely turbulent times, to be sure and yes there were riots.. Selma, Watts, police authorities, and Chicago was instigated by the National Guard and the State police.

(60,010 posts)The pastor said he doubted the same people who were raging on the other end of West Florissant had burned his church. Instead, he said, he suspected white supremacists who wanted to punish him for his support of the Brown family, who had just been baptized there.
"Sunday, we do the baptism, Monday, the church is one fire. It just doesn't add up," he said.
