(19,505 posts)Except for Costco, I won't be going to places where the crowds are, and Costco probably won't be too bad.

(19,505 posts)Haven't gone yet. That's good news, about them being empty. Well, good for me, anyway.
Wife, her friends and daughters will be out by 5am.
I think it's more of a party for them than the shopping.
As for me, it's a great day to go duck hunting.

(4,113 posts)(OK, my ereader/tablet) I'll be reading the newest Patterson mystery, then maybe spend a couple of hours writing. Won't be going within a mile of any establishment where I'd be spending money.

(27,630 posts)When I was a kid I didn't care, and when I was old enough to give a shit, well, I guess it never happened.

(3,920 posts)Holidayed in today -- I need some groceries and booze!
I have too much to do with making single serving turkey dinners I can freeze with the leftovers so they can be zapped in the microwave after work or given to some of my elderly neighbors. All the turkey, minimal work, and the leftovers don't spoil and go to waste.
Oh, and I'm about as inclined to fight over a $5 waffle iron as I am to stick my foot in said waffle iron when it's heated.
I don't need anything that badly.

(7,587 posts)I object first off to the fact that many stores are open on Thanksgiving so why line their pockets on Friday
Secondly, I learned long ago that Black Friday shoppers are rude and downright nasty
I stay home..clean my house, put up my Christmas tree and decorate the house, then curl up with a good book.
I live in a very small community in the mountains in New Mexico....everything here is shut down for two days....THANK goodness...and no way am I driving into the city to shop...I stay home, stay safe...........

(13,081 posts)There are some 60s era Doctor Strange and Sergeant Fury and His Howling Commandos that I need to own, but can't afford unless they're 50% off.
Other than that? No way, no how. I figure I'm not screwing anyone over if the business owner and I are on a first name basis and know where each other lives.

(14,733 posts)Haven't really been exchanging Christmas gifts much over the last few years while unemployed, so it's not like I've got anyone to shop for.

The last thing I want to do is confront merchandise obsessed Middle America runnning around, shoulder checking anybody who gets close, while they grab everything they can hold.

(14,352 posts)... but I got my new glasses, helmet pads, and Bar Mitts ordered. Also found a pair of "Lobster Gloves". Needed a haircut, brakes had to get looked at by a mechanic, and picked up a few things from the grocery store.
