Darren Wilson, the white police officer who shot and killed unarmed black teen Michael Brown on August 9, leading to a wave of protests and unrest in Ferguson, Missouri, is in talks to resign from his department, according to his lawyer.
In an interview with CNN, attorney Neil Bruntrager said its a matter of when, not if Wilson will step down, and he might give up policing as a profession altogether.
Hes on paid leave, and there are discussions that are going on right now to separate from the department in an amicable fashion, said Bruntrager.

Fox is probably hiring. Seriously though, I can't imagine what this racist coward will do for a living after this.

(1,508 posts)It's amazing that he could do what he did and have it turn into a life changing event, for the good. Instead of going to prison or at least having to defend his ludicrous story in court he'll now have opportunities that most of us never will.
It's kind of sick.

(589 posts)I can see him being on the payroll of Fox when they want a ex cop opinion on a certain matter.
I don't think in the long run your figure was off.
This will turn out to be over a million total with everything included

(589 posts)plus the 400 ,000 he had donated so I bet he walks away with over a half million
not counting a book deal or movie of the week which I'm sure we will see.
I't wouldn't surprise me if he was already contacted and in talks

(14,040 posts)ABC claims they didn't pay via a tweet from someone else (though they could have "paid" the wife)
And here's an article about the practice--and the article points out that it's mostly ABC & NBC that pay out for exclusive interviews. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/13/business/media/13payments.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0
