Former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice has won his appeal of an indefinite suspension and has been reinstated to the NFL.

Rice is now eligible to sign with any NFL team.

Rice was suspended indefinitely Sept. 8 for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy after a video of him hitting his then-fiancée was released publicly. Goodell originally had suspended the running back for two games.

Rice's appeal of his indefinite suspension was heard by U.S. District Judge Barbara S. Jones earlier this month. Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome testified under oath Nov. 6 in the appeal hearing that he heard the former Baltimore running back tell Goodell during his June 16 disciplinary hearing that he had hit his then-fiancée in a casino hotel elevator, sources told "Outside the Lines."

1. I wish he'd been banned from the start, but this is unfortunately the correct decision.

By union agreement players are protected from being punished twice for the same violation.

So, the league cannot suspend him for two games when they hope to hide the videos and then ban him once the videos are leaked. The Commissioner and some other top execs really should be fired over this...

4. I think someone will give him a shot, but he won't be the player he was.

I have probably just jinxed him into breaking every record in the books.

If Ray Lewis can somehow become a "hero" after murder, Ray Rice will get another chance.

5. This is due in part to the initial NFL ruling being screwed up

This is a bad result that is due to the fact that the NFL took a weak position initially in this case

but I doubt any team will sign him until the off season. Football outsiders rated him the worse starting back in the league in 2013 so I'm not sure his value is exactly high at the moment.

9. Any idea as to why he declined so much from 2012 to 2013?

Though of course, that's rather secondary to his criminal behavior.

Won't matter. His 2013 year he struggled to make 3ypc. He had lost that extra burst that made him special. To find a team and be his old self prior to his poor 2013 is not impossible but is very unlikely. Windows close quick for NFL rbs and his is barely cracked...
