Louisiana: state asks U.S. Supreme Court to rule on marriage equality

In an unusual move, the US state of Louisiana has asked the Supreme Court to hear arguments around a same-sex marriage lawsuit, before a federal appeals court has ruled.

The request was filed by attorney Kyle Duncan this week, asking the US Supreme Court justices to hear appeals of the case.
