In cases against cops should prosecutors from different cities be brought in?

Jon Stewart made an interesting point about the intimate relationship between police and city attorney's / prosecutors. They have to interact with the police every day and so I imagine it's tough to come down on people who are in a sense your co-workers who you will have to face many times in the future.

So, perhaps there could be a bill to make it mandatory that someone who has no connection with local police be brought in to prosecute any case against cops?

Thoughts?

I think it should be a state office and the only job of the special prosecutor should be to bring charges against people in the criminal justice system from the police to judges.

the investigations and prosecutioms of serious charges against LEO are done by outside agencies. There may be exceptions, but I cannot recall them.

The talking heads say the reason the DA did not seek an indictment, was that he didn't believe a criminal trial was winnable. Then why even have a GJ then? Why didn't the DA just come out after the killing and say the cop followed the laws? If that is what he believes and it seems the DA does by the way the swayed the jury vote with his one sided evidence.
