I alerted on this troll and checked the TOS but a jury decided to leave the post standing.

Here is the post:

Here is the jury decision:

personal attack. possible troll.

JURY RESULTS

A randomly-selected Jury of DU members completed their review of this alert at Sat Apr 21, 2012, 02:28 PM, and voted 3-3 to LEAVE IT ALONE.

Juror #1 voted to HIDE IT and said: I share the poster's frustration with sloppy characterization of facts, although in this case it isn't clear whether the person was jailed for failing to respond to a court summons or for failing to pay legal fines (for example) which would just be a reframing of what the debt is for. That said, I share the alerter's frustration at the lack of civility - using attacks on the person, rather than discussing the point of disagreement. So - in the interest of nudging DU toward being a more civil place for discussions, I'm voting to hide it.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: Please! Are you kidding me?!?
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No explanation given
Juror #4 voted to HIDE IT and said: I will be quite frank. I am sick of this shit. I'm sick of the low-level racism, sexism, and bullshit. Since this poster has already been PPR'd (yes, the first thing I did was check that profile) I don't even have to look at this post in context--the person was enough of a raging uncivil asshole for the MIRT to get 'em after eleven scant posts. Why leave their shit up for others to have to deal with, as a memorial to their assholishness? HIDE THAT SHIT. Hide it GOOD. And fuck trolls and the Rove-rats they rode in on. That is all.
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: It's rude and sarcastic, but it's not a personal attack. Borderline.
Juror #6 voted to HIDE IT and said: Troll

I just can't see coddling 'knowing' haters or obvious disruptors. We just don't have to put up with that stuff.

Other times, the outrage is more obvious.

Checking the profile and finding a PPR told me all I needed to know. No need to even read the entire thread, look at other comments, see if or how much of a "low leveler" the poster was, and how close they got to the line without "quite" stepping over (this is what I often do). If a person is already PPR'd before I even get the jury call, they've ALREADY been identified as an uncivil disruptor, and if they've been an uncivil disruptor, I don't want or need to see their disrupting, snarky shit. If the MIRT has been so kind as to take out the trash, far be it from me to not pick up in my own little area when asked.

That's how I see it, anyway. I've also seen a number of frivolous alerts that were based on personal animus instead of actual disruption (example--one poster disagrees with another and 'someone' alerts and calls it a personal insult instead of what it actually is). I won't vote to hide based on disagreement, only if the person is, in my opinion, here to raise hell and cause dissent.

I haven't gotten any of those frivolous ones in the past few days, though--not that I'm complaining, certainly; I actually prefer it when peace reigns in DU Valley!

for him to POOP ON!

For anyone unaware--this troll got booted after eleven scant posts.

I suppose we should feel a bit sorry for him, but it's kind of hard to feel sorry for people who behave like raging assholes.

He will be back, because this is the only thrill he has, you see. I'll bet at least three of these suppositions are right on the money: He lives in mom's basement, he smells bad, he can't get a date, he is un/under-employed, he's not too bright, his ego outpaces his talent by a factor of at least ten, he was both bullied and was a bully (and still is), people walk the other way at a fast clip when they see him coming, he dresses poorly, he is a chronic nosepicker, he remains a massive disappointment to his parents, to the point of being a bit of an embarrassment, and DU is the only place he can get a thrill without needing a stack of one dollar bills, cash upfront, or a major credit card.

His poor mother--I'm sure when he was born she had such hopes and dreams, and look what she ended up with--a DU troll. And that's probably the high point of his sad, empty, lame-ass life. Put it in your will that you want that on your tombstone, loser!
