(70,204 posts)a set amount across the board to spend as they like-Fed state and local.
Current elected officials all give 10% of their current war chests to get the fund seed money (would come out of taxes when this is expired). The rest of the money is given to Charities of their choice/food pantries whatever.
All start with clean slate.

(30,058 posts)members who will confirm good decent members of SC and lower courts. It starts also at the local levels, to get Democrats in local offices, state offices and on into federal locations. It starts at the lowest point, the voters, we may not have perfect candidates but a must for ones who will help get good replacements for the conservative members of the SC. It is not going to happen in the next ten years but it must start, we have to stop this bickering about silly one issue items. We have to enact laws in Congress to stop the open purse strings. It can happen, there has to be a willingness to work for the future of our nation and the working people.

Although it is called a "free trade" agreement, the TPP is not mainly about trade. Of TPP's 29 draft chapters, only five deal with traditional trade issues. One chapter would provide incentives to offshore jobs to low-wage countries. Many would impose limits on government policies that we rely on in our daily lives for safe food, a clean environment, and more. Our domestic federal, state and local policies would be required to comply with TPP rules.
The TPP would even elevate individual foreign firms to equal status with sovereign nations, empowering them to privately enforce new rights and privileges, provided by the pact, by dragging governments to foreign tribunals to challenge public interest policies that they claim frustrate their expectations. The tribunals would be authorized to order taxpayer compensation to the foreign corporations for the "expected future profits" they surmise would be inhibited by the challenged policies.

(12,471 posts)A while back, here at DU, there was a contest that I won to come up with a design for a Tshirt, tote, or other thing.
It read, We the People, not them, the corporations.
