(12,754 posts)We need to change the system. Just shuffling people in and out of the Oval Office isn't going to make any significant different. No matter who sits there, they can only act within the constraints set by their corporate masters.

(36,462 posts)The presidency is an iconic position. The corpo-elite may allow some sway on social issues, but economically the 99% are fucked.

(33,688 posts)and could not care less about legal weed or same-sex marriage. There's no big money there and the tenth-percenters care about only two things - hoarding all the Money in the world and having the Power to make sure that "their" Money is protected from the Teeming Millions of Future Peasants and Serfs.

(3,428 posts)We have a Dem POTUS who will veto any such bill.
truebluegreen
(9,033 posts)Because this particular bill is designed to keep the government up and running....with some particularly nasty additions.
rusty fender
(3,428 posts)then the POTUS should veto it even if it shuts the gov't down and hang the people responsible for the debacle out to dry. Right? Leadership
truebluegreen
(9,033 posts)But I don't think we have any "leadership" (btw one of the awful things in the bill is putting taxpayers back on the hook if the banks blow up the economy again).

(56 posts)The few bubbles that rose to the surface after the Titanic sank. It has happened. The only way back is revolution, but the public is too compliant. Let them suffer greater privation, and it will rise up as anger. Until then, what's on Netflix streaming?

Americans are asleep at the wheel but maybe they will wake up when their pensions are raided and they can't even afford cat food.

(4,106 posts)Is Obama worked against Nancy Pelosi who was telling her caucus not to support it. Both the VP and BO called house dems to pressure them to vote for it after it was pulled yesterday. He threw us and Nancy under the bus. This bill gives Wall St free reign to bet and lose and we have to cover the loss.
It attacks pensions etc. I feel completely betrayed. I hope they impeach him.

(5 posts)It's nice that Sen. Sanders alerts everyone, but why no filibuster? Dammit if you and Senator Warren feel this is so bad, you could have stopped it but you didn't. You never do. Until you do, please don't run for President. It's almost as if the Democrats are trying to lose.
