LINCOLN — A former Omaha man paroled after he won a rare commutation from a life sentence for murder now faces a charge of sexually assaulting a child.

Laddie Dittrich, 69, was paroled in May after serving 41 years in prison for the 1973 slaying of John Wisotzkey in Omaha. In 2013, the Board of Pardons commuted his sentence to 80 years to life, which enabled Dittrich to qualify for parole.

It marked only the third time in the previous 23 years that the Pardons Board had commuted a life term for first-degree murder.

Otoe County Attorney David Partsch charged Dittrich on Nov. 24 with third-degree sexual assault on a 10-year-old child, according to court records. The alleged offense, which carries a maximum prison term of five years, took place on Nov. 23.

that we should ban life-without-parole sentences, I'm going to point out this case.

As far as Laddie Dittrich is concerned, he has forfeited any right to ever live in a society outside of prison walls in my opinion.
