I was a meeting at the White House today, and some of us were given a special email address to submit ideas for Obama to include in the SOTU.
I'll have a couple of my own, but if anyone has anything that sounds inspiring, I'll pass it on, and credit DU (or your real name if you want it attributed). I certainly don't have a monopoly on inspiration, so I'll be happy to pass anything on that sounds really inspiring.

That would go down in the history books.

I won't hold my breath.

That's my hoped-for line for the SOTU.

(146,339 posts)He is in the last two years of his Presidency, and will be a Democratic President with a Republican-controlled Congress. A reminder that he has the power of the veto must be openly stated. Frankly, such statements are not his normal style, so I'd encourage him to make that statement clearly and unequivocally.
I think he does need us to remind him.
DFW
(54,462 posts)It may not jive with his style to provoke them with it in the SOTU. He can say it at plenty of other occasions without rubbing it in the faces at a venue where they might feel almost obligated to challenge him on it.

(146,339 posts)He has two audiences for it. I think the larger one is more important, really.
