Hitler’s Mein Kampf to be republished in Germany

Adolf Hitler’s infamous memoir Mein Kampf is to be reprinted in Germany for the first time in 70 years.

According to newspaper reports the new addition is to include commentaries on the text criticising Hitler’s arguments.

Though Mein Kamf is not officially banned in Germany, no one has been allowed to print an edition under the current copyright which belongs to the Bavarian Finance Ministry.

The decision to reprint Hitler’s work comes as that copyright is set to expire in 2015. Concerns that once anyone is free to publish the book, neo-Nazis will churn out editions favourable to the Nazi leader prompted the idea of a new academic version.

Interesting. I thought Germany had laws against that.

then you should be able to read anything you want. Yes they have a terrible past, but Mein Kamf is a horribly written book, most people who want to read it will read it once and never touch it again and the crazy people who will use it as a "bible" of sorts probably already have it and have read it.

3. It is real creepy to think that the copyright is expiring because it will be 70 years

after the author's death. Just seems odd to accord that fuck the same consideration as any other writer of books.

A point-by-point-rebuttal
* how Hitler was paranoid that the communists would take over europe (how dare those hippies protest bourgeoisie, aristocracy and monarchy?)
* how Darwin's theory of evolution was incorporated in racist ideologies in the decades before
* how jews resorted to jobs in the financial sector because of tradition, not because of malevolence (anti-semitism in medieval times prevented them from entering craftsmen-guildes and from buying land)

Damn. If Hitler had gone into acting instead of painting, maybe all this wouldn't have happened.
