Marriage headed for Supreme Court

Supreme Court Agrees to Decide On Gay Marriage

The Supreme Court agreed Friday to definitively answer whether the Constitution allows states to ban same-sex marriage, plunging the court directly into one of the nation's biggest legal and cultural issues.

By agreeing now to take up the question, the court allowed time for the case to be decided by the end of the current term in late June. The case will be argued in late April.

There's no way that they uphold the bans. longship Jan 2015 #1
Hope so! It's come so far, hard to think SCOTUS would do a huge reversal. n/t RKP5637 Jan 2015 #2

First, as Ed Brayton aptly points out, there is no way Kennedy upholds the bans. He is one pretty much guaranteed vote to strike them.

Second, is Roberts going to side on the wrong side of what is increasingly becoming a fait accompli?

That is why many court observers are calling a 6-3 majority to strike these laws.

Then, we will be done with this idiocy, at least mostly. (I don't believe for a minute that the troglodytes will stop any time soon, even in the face of such a definitive SCOTUS decision.)

In other words, I am optimistic about this.
