? to Andrew Young: Did you respond by telling her 'the truth will mess up everything?'

Later, Lowell questioned Young about his contacting three witnesses in the case following the release of the defense's witness list. Despite having been instructed by prosecutors not to contact any other witnesses, Young admitted he called two men and a woman.

On Friday, Lowell asked Young what he had asked the woman when he called.

"It was for a personal issue, sir," Young replied.

Asked how the woman described her potential testimony, Young replied that she said she would tell the truth. That prompted Lowell to ask Young if he responded by telling her that the truth would "mess up everything."

Young said he may have said that, but couldn't recall.

At this point, Young stands a better chance of going to prison than John Edwards.

Young has immunity. I'm not sure how far that immunity goes, but I have a feeling that it's pretty broad.

Even during jury selection, it was in the news that Young had contacted about three people on the witness list, surely the prosecution knew that. I strongly believe that they also knew 99% of what Young was going to say, they would have interviewed him thoroughly as a condition of granting the immunity.

I figure they made him the first major witness in order to make sure he was the last thing on the minds of the jurors as they went into deliberations. I'm sure Ms. Druck will make a stronger impression on them. Besides, watching Young flip and flop around like a carp on a fishing boat deck would make Edwards smug, and we all know how he thinks he's charmed enough to get away with things.
