Tar Sands Activists Being Targeted by FBI

http://www.commondreams.org/news/2015/02/09/tar-sands-activists-being-targeted-fbi

FBI investigators with nebulous intentions have attempted to question anti-tar sands activists in several states, the Canadian Press reported over the weekend.

While the dozen or so protesters who have been contacted hail from different organizations, they have one thing in common: mutual participation in so-called "megaload protests"—intermittent highway blockades set up the last few years to complicate the enormous, football-field-sized shipments of processing equipment up to Canadian tar sands mining operations.

"It’s actually pretty spooky to have the FBI show up at your door, ask one question and leave. I think they were there to put me on notice that I was being watched."
—Herb Goodwin, eco-activist

Larry Hildes, a lawyer working with the protesters, said the phone calls and visits have been happening the last few months in the northwestern states of Washington, Oregon, and Idaho.

"They appear to be interested in actions around the tarsands and the Keystone XL pipeline," Hildes told the Canadian Press. "It’s always the same line: 'We’re not doing criminal investigations, you’re not accused of any crime. But we’re trying to learn more about the movement'."

COINTELPRO is still being used, they just dropped the name.

Youtube video bouncing I come across Bill O'Reilly (context Ferguson) before criticizing Samuel Jackson's claims mentioned before going into him "the FBI actually investigated him because he was so radical" and I have no idea to the background to that, don't even know if it was true but any activist organization to the left of the compass is doing something wrong if they don't have a FBI file on them. FBI were the ones who appeared to be the more shameful ones out of all of them. Divide & conquer games got people killed, ramped up the violence on law enforcement (weird little tricks from who knows where, especially since "it isn't paranoia if they're really after you", has a tendency to cause people to spazz out).

I remember from somewhere and wasn't sure if the agent was referring to the Weather Underground or Black Panthers (though both were early in existence) after he was asked to investigate reported that all he saw them to do was serve food to the homeless & poor as well as help with job seeking. Both pretty much had an early history like that. I can't trust much at all after that since agents went in there as infiltrators, antagonized, provoked, played people against each other (Malcolm X died because of their BS and I doubt we got the whole truth regarding MLK's assassination, especially since after the Civil Rights Bill he was ramping up on anti-war & economic rhetoric. He was brilliant in not just the issues but presentation. He made non-violence a focus because if there was violence, the oppressors & media would obsess over the violence & use that to continue to deny rights. The day of he was speaking for the Memphis Sanitation workers which local media did in fact obsess over violence & basically had a one sided portrayal showing the labor as unruly while showing their bosses as calm, reasonable, & patient.

Recently released information shows FBI had COINTELPRO activities for those very same sanitation strikes and had agent infiltrators/provocateurs

You have to wonder sometimes what our federal law enforcement & CIA are really up to. FBI are often involved in credible investigations but only things I know of (being very unfamiliar) is most focus seems to be on terrorism or catching a politician giving or receiving a bribe. CIA is basically a super secret organization that is up to some very questionable activities for whose benefit under whose direction? I've read a lot of former agents who describe things as up to no good for ulterior motives but very little of it mentions who is pulling the strings? I know Truman started it but it seems like an unintended consequence. He recalled from the War how he got information from here different from over there, basically a breakdown and he wanted to simply gather everything & streamline so it will be when it comes to reporting to the President. Hence, the name "Central Intelligence". However, it took on a life of its own very quickly planning, plotting, and performing assassinations starting with 1954 Guatamala

On edit - Here it is

That’s where O’Reilly said he associated with black militants and was so radical that the FBI investigated him in the 1960s.

These are tactics of a fascist, totalitarian state, not behavior that should ever be associated with the USA.
