Alabama Chief Justice: Father-Daughter Marriages May Follow Same-Sex Ruling

Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore said in an interview broadcast Tuesday that he's fighting gay marriage because he worries it would pave the way to "marriages between men and their daughters or women and their sons."

On Sunday, Moore ordered state probate judges to refuse to marry same-sex couples, defying a federal ruling that brought gay marriage to the state Monday.

ABC News correspondent Steve Osunsami asked Moore in a "Good Morning America" segment broadcast Tuesday whether he feared that his opposition to gay marriage would put him on "the wrong side of history."

"Absolutely not," Moore responded. “Do they stop with one man and one man or one woman and one woman? Or do they go to multiple marriages? Or do they go to marriages between men and their daughters or women and their sons?”

There was a story here a few weeks ago about a father and daughter. She lost her virginity to him and they plan on getting married and having children --

factor or biologically close the relationship. Something they are trying to change.

But I think that incest is just the excuse being used.

or Mother/Son or Brother/Sister marriage that has been going one for a very long time there, be my guest. I don't have a problem with it.

It is nothing new.

What do they call it down there...Southern Tradition, I think they even wrote a few country and western songs about it.

Once Teh Gays start marrying, there's no telling what sort of thoughts they'll put in my head. So we should just break federal law and ignore rulings, or else we'll end up with people marrying microbes and aardvarks and so on.

As with segregation, we'll eventually drag Alabama kicking and screaming toward the light (no disrespect intended toward Alabama DUers).

Purity Balls where they pledged their virginity to their dads and where a deep emotional attachment to daddy was meant to replace love from any potential boyfriend. The daughter's main value is seen as her virginity, which is owned by her father until he passes it off to her husband.

than allowing unrelated adults to marry? Yet Alabama (among a number of states) allows first cousins to marry, but manages not to allow parent-child marriage.

Sorry Roy.

I will not repeat the jokes about 'family relations" in Alabama. Nope.

Won't denigrate the fine posters on here from that beautiful, dumb state. Said as one from another dumb state.

The best way for straight bigots to protest gay marriage is for them to not get married to gay people, that will really show the gays then.
