JEB's fine with the Big Money guys, but his problem is that he's not quite wacko enough for the Tea Party. Immigration, for one thing.
Walker, on the other hand, sucks in the rubes, rednecks and other assorted semiliterates in the population. They LOVED the way he beat down the teachers & state employees.
A vote for Walker was a vote of revenge against all those teachers who had tormented them all those years ago.
A vote for Walker was a chance to give all those wiseass state bureaucrats a comeuppance--especially that shitty Drivers License Examiner that just flunked my kid .

(53,475 posts)They love that he dropped all those parasites from Medicaid ...
They love that he took money out of the pockets of those lazy K-12 teachers ...
They love that he pushed through concealed carry laws ...
They love that he punished those who dared join a union ...
They love that he wants to make all those receiving government assistance take drug tests ...
They love that his staff makes jokes about minorities and the disabled ...
They love that it's obvious he hates blacks, hispanics and gays ...
They love that he's clever enough to make sure none of his shit sticks to him.

(32,062 posts)folks need only look at Wisconsin to see what Walker is capable of. He is a pawn for the Koch Bros. Cut all public spending (most recently his suggestions including cutting the budget of the UW system by 13%), break the unions, leave gay marriage up to the churches, etc ...

(45,488 posts)asswipe behind the scenes. This should sound familiar to everyone. The Kochs are returning to what worked in the past.
Why is Walker so dangerous? Because many on the left help the Koch memes along. Look at the posts on DU bashing the Democrats for have an age problem.

(16,104 posts)the mainstream big money centrist is OK with Democrats! Jeb would be best for the left.
Would the right say this about our mainstream big money centrist candidate? At least Hillary is better than Liz or Bernie? I don't recall ever hearing that, but I don't know anything about Republican Underground.
I absolutely agree with JR, and we are much more analytic and sophisticated about our politics, but Republicans keep it simple -- all Democrats bad. All. I long for the day that message doesn't work!

(9,126 posts)No one. The BFEE has the deepest pockets and they know where all the skeletons are buried. The Kochs may want to put their man in the WH, but they may not be up for the fight. I'm sure daddy Bush built an entire filing system just on them. The Bushes have been in politics for far too long to not be able to outmanouver Koch Bros. They are just lying in wait.
There is no one more dangerous than Jeb because he's a Bush. The favorite Bush at that.

(1,512 posts)... the only thing holding Jebbie back is that he converted to Catholicism, which will not go down well with the fundies.

(32,886 posts)If you spend time studying them, seeing what they say in their discussion forums, listening to and watching conservative media, you realize Jeb will have a huge problem winning the Repug nomination.
Spend 15 minutes each reading posts on the 5 biggest conservative discussion forums and you will see it immediately. Listen to right wing radio shows and you will hear it right away when 2016 is discussed.
They DO NOT WANT JEB.

(9,126 posts)I'll wager a friendly $100 to the charity of your choice that Jeb is the nominee. Because what the people want is not an issue anymore; it's what the moneyed power brokers want that matters. Hell, they got Republicans to vote for Mormon Romney who they despised. Jeb will be the nominee. And I don't have to hang out on tea boards to know.

(32,886 posts)Whether the money folks want him or not, he still has to get the votes in the primaries and caucuses.
And he will not be able to do it. He has no chance in Iowa, he won't win in the South with the exception perhaps of Florida, and Marco Rubio might challenge him there, and in New Hampshire, Rand Paul is likely to win.
In the first 13 -18 primary contests, its hard to see more than 2-3 that he has a chance of winning.
AND here is the kicker, you can bet that he is in the crosshairs of all the other folks during the debates. They are going to hammer him on immigration. He's really screwed.

(9,126 posts)Makes it more interesting. At least someone will benefit whichever Republican loser wins.

(32,886 posts)base.
He has much bigger problems with those on the right most 50% of the party than Hillary does with the left most 50% of the Democratic base, for instance, probably by a factor of 10.
What Jeb said regarding immigration completely disqualifies him in their eyes.

(13,877 posts)a small majority, either way. Seems to me that Walker, although he may appeal to the TP and RWers, he loses that appeal as a Presidential candidate. He'll be way out of his comfort zone, money notwithstanding. I'd rather see him against anyone the Democrats run because lack of intelligence, experience, a kind of a GWB swagger, and major stress on the campaign trail, will start to wear away his thin facade.
Jeb, OTOH, would make a formidable national candidate...with all of the above. He comes across as "the smart one". Call me silly, but I think his Spanish speaking family will be more of a help than a hindrance and the immigration brouhaha factor will not be the final arbiter.
That's why I'm hoping that Julian Castro will be our VP nominee. The Hispanic vote is increasingly significant and I'd just as soon the Republicans don't understand that.
