Officials in the Canadian province of Alberta say they hope to talk to Alaska leaders about shipping tar-sands crude oil through the state as the Keystone XL pipeline route through the Lower 48 remains bogged down in politics.

Theoretically the pipeline would traverse mostly Federal land and might be an easier pitch...

Be it Alaska or the Keystone XL. Route it through your own country.

(5,829 posts)5. They are Enbridge East pipeline. But that one port isn.t enough f/ all they want to export.
And export is why they want all the pipelines. Eastern line, KXL, etc are not about Canada's own energy supplies, they're about filling oil execs' wallets. Same goes f/ North Dakota's support of KXL -- US energy independence isn.t their concern. That's why rewriting export laws was an amendment to recent bills.
