British man fatally beats German for filming daughter in Spanish restaurant

British man fatally beats German for filming daughter in Spanish restaurant: cops
Kainth Devinder, 40, allegedly attacked Sandro Rottman, 43, after noticing that he was filming his little girl on an iPad in a restaurant in Sotogrande, Spain, on Sunday morning. Rottman had reportedly been arrested over allegedly possessing child porn days earlier

A British man battered a German diner to death after busting him filming his young daughter on his iPad in a Spanish restaurant, police said.

Kainth Devinder, 40, allegedly attacked Sandro Rottman, 43, after spotting him recording his little girl at the upmarket port of Sotogrande's Spinnaker eatery early Sunday, according to The Local.

The German had been arrested just days earlier for alleged possession of child porn, according to reports.

"The girl's father got up and went to the table where the victim was," a Civil Guard source told AFP.

"He took the tablet off him, saw that there were recordings of his daughter, and that was when the attack took place," he added.

Stay classy, DailyMail.

I can't help wondering... If Mr. Devinder were American, would our press describe him as "a US citizen," or would they make a point of mentioning his ethnicity?

My cynicism leads me to suspect the latter, I'm afraid.

That was the most un-newsy news story I have ever read. There is practically no news in it.

As to the actual story, killing him was not necessary. Calling the cops and having them confiscate the iPad would also have worked. And it avoids that whole, you know, being a murderer thing.

We are equally cynical, because the US press would have absolutely mentioned his ethnicity.

7. Depending on the force of the hit, death could come from a single blow

Or even just a couple of hard blows/kicks. It may have been over before bystanders could even react.

The guy asked the perv to stop taking pictures of his daughter, when the perv kept it up he walked up grabbed the iPad, checked it, through it on the ground, punched the guy one time and left. The guy later died at the hospital, it's truly unfortunate that this guy could not let his temper cool and let justice take it's course with the perv having being accused of possessing child porn the day before. But who knows maybe it's not a serious offense in Spain since they were letting the guy walk the streets after accusing him of it.

Not saying the father was correct, but as a dad, I still wouldn't vote to convict him of anything beyond causing a public disturbance.

If you remove the earlier child porn arrest from the story, then this incident *really* gets murky...

13. No, you still have a stranger recording your little girl without consent

and trying to walk away with that recording.

I'm not saying I would have done the same thing as the British father and I am glad I am not going to be on that jury, but even without children I understand what was going through the father's mind.

The idea of some stranger deriving sexual gratification through pictures of my young daughter (if I had one) would probably cause me to lose my temper.

Don't know, probably varies from country to country and even state to state here.

If you're at Disney and you take a picture of someone's kid in the background of one of your pictures of your family, no reasonable person would find that creepy or wrong.

A complete stranger taking pictures (or video) of only your young daughter (the article didn't mention the age, but implied under 10 years old) is a much different thing.
